The Big 10 has trash offenses up and down the board.

At one point they had 5 of the top 10 scoring defenses.

My suggestions

Shoops
Grinch
Make Leonhard day no.
See what Dan Lannings might want. Make 2.5 mill and get out of Smart’s shadow?

You make a great point. Those are also mostly rushing offenses. OSU dominates them bc they have a more prolific pass O. Since O is already known as a very good defensive line coach, we may need to filter it to guys who are LB/secondary specialists and don’t run 4-3 defenses. Our athletes aren’t built for that anymore., and our opponents aren’t lining up in power O.

I trust Ed O far more than I trust you to make a good choice to replace Dave Aranda should he have to.

It’s a fan discussion board, chill out. We don’t influence the choice anyway. Doesn’t mean we can’t discuss it.

SOURCES: Former #MissState & #PennState DC Bob Shoop is joining the #Michigan staff. Big addition for the Wolverines & Jim Harbaugh

Grinch is actually good. He greatly improved OU and they don't get top recruits on D. So it was his coaching that did it.

Yes we tore them a new one but we also did it to arguably one of the best DCs and top athletes in Clemson.

If Aranda leaves, then look for Busch(LSU Safeties coach) to go with him as his new DC at Baylor. Again Richard makes sense, as he has experience coaching Safeties with Seattle. If Busch leaves that opening would allow Bill Johnson to remain on staff, as well as Meatball Dennis Johnson. A def staff made up of Dennis and Bill Johnson, Kris Richard, and Corey Raymond would be stout.

Kris Richard was the Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator for three seasons after spending five seasons coaching their defensive backs.

He's been a NFL DC, DB coach, and a passing game coordinator. He was not retained by Mike McCarthy, which means he's still owed salary by the Cowboys. LSU could hire him for much less than what they paid Aranda, and let the Jerry Jones make up the difference. LSU saves some money, to be used to give Corey Raymond a raise.

Give any DC a high school team and ask them to stop the saints and you will have issue

The fact that none of their defenders belonged on the same field as LSU had more to do with the domination than Grinch’s coaching ability.

He did take one of the worst units to respectable pretty quickly

I don't see how we'd pry Leonard from his alma mater. He'll be in line to be HC there if his success is continued, which it will.

Depends on what his coaching aspirations are I suppose. Chryst is only 54 and could be there for a long time.
