Arkansas and Ole Miss had head coaching opportunities open up and was Aranda even considered. Neither one of those schools are top tier jobs but better than say UNLV.

Yes being a complete introvert is not conducive to being thought of as a leader of an entire city and program. But that’s who he is. He’s Monte Kiffin wo the bastard child...

At LSU you have two options.
Option 1: Want the coordinator to be fired.
Option 2: other programs want to hire coordinator.
I'm still somewhat astonished and bewildered when, on occasion, 1/2 of the board wants somebody fired and the other half is melting because he was mentioned for another job.
quote:Aranda is known to be an excellent communicator and teacher. That is an absolute requirement for a coach/leader. The method of that communication matters not, as long as it gets done.

You still need a motivator, which is a separate trait.

Just because someone can fish does not mean he can hunt.
HC is more like a CEO than a coach. I do not see Aranda there at this time.
Having said that, if a BIG BOY W BIG $$$ comes, he needs to take it and secure his family's future.
He could always return to DC.
BUT I would not do it for a small school

Along with recruiting, organizing, booster relations...and managing a huge staff.

I wouldn't exactly call Bill Belichick and Nick Saban extroverts.
You don't have to be an extrovert to be a good HC.

And he will.
The coaching tree for Orgeron is developing.
Just hope he can continue to grow those branches

I agree with what somebody else said, I think Aranda needs to start showing a little more personality before jumping into being a HC. He needs to develop a little more of an identity that he/the school can sell

I can understand that he wants his name out there for a coaching search, BUT horrible timing with ESD and him not going to take UNLV job because of the pay

Ideal situation: muschamp gets fired the same year Aranda takes a head job

His next step should be the NFL. It’s a better fit for him, and his personality.
I just don’t see him as a HC in college. #1 attribute of most great college HCs is the ability to go into a living room and recruit. Not exactly Aranda’s strength!

f he puts together two great performances in the next two games (and there will be a second game if LSU’s defense plays well vs OU) everyone will forget about the early season struggles

All I know is that replacing coordinators makes for a glorious time on the rant..
Shoop was 90 percent done deal.
Then fell through and I wasn't exactly excited about Steele, but was happy we were bringing O back home.
I melted hard over Ensminger.
Thought Canada was a great hire.
Aranda was definitely the best of the bunch. Miles certainly nailed that one.

I think he needs to be more outgoing and less professorial.

Stay in the south with easy grounds for recruiting (considering he's not a recruiting machine!), and go to a smaller team with not much of a pressure. I don't think the top dogs will have the patience for more than 2-3 years without results, and coaches won't age graciously!

In the SEC? Yes it is. At an Ivy League school? I could absolutely see it.

I really think he ends up at a P5 school that is going to be happy with a 9-3 type season in the good years. I think he will want to implement a system and field a competitive team. I just dont see him recruiting hard enough to be an elite team, but I think his detail, his approach and his football a IQ could be a real good fit at a school like Mich State, TTU, VTech...something like that.
