There is always a chance, no matter how miniscule.
Personal opinion=blowout

Just needed some reasurance after talking to all those App. fans

I'd love to see Chad Jones spying Edwards.
If our running game is consistent we can keep AE on the sidelines, best defense for him. They did lose a lot of their secondary from last year, not to mention Dexter Jackson.
An AppSt fan can inform me of the quality of their depth. The heat will make depth an issue.

I don't see how anyone could say there is NO chance App could win. While it is more than likely LSU will win the game, App definitely has some chance, however small, to win. I'm curious to see what is said after the game if LSU doesn't win by at least 21. I'm hoping for a close game in the first half and hope App can hang in there for what I think is going to be a much tougher second half.

Partial quotes from our Def Coord:
"The linebacker crew is going to be solid."
“Most of the questions asked this preseason about our defense is in the secondary where obviously we lost all four starters. There is still a wealth of talent though..."

Of course he would say that he is paid to say that

Well, I think it is favorable for us in the LSU matchup to have our weakest part of D in the secondary considering you guys are stacked at RB and the QB spot is more unknown at this point.

Of course they have a shot. They're a good team and it's the first game of the season, a lot of things can happen.
That said, I'd still be surprised if they win. It should be a quality win for the Tigers and not a rent a win, which is fine by me.

I feel the same way. I was ecstatic last year when they beat Michigan. I am hoping for a blowout this year though, by LSU of course.

Ten things will happen 8-30-08:
1. The Pope will give birth to twins and name them John and Paul after their father.
2. Empire, LA will be hit by a 7.6 earthquake.
3. The entire population of Louisiana will decide that crawfish taste like shite and switch to bratwurst cheese boils.
4. President Bush grants 57 pardons so Bama can field more than 18 players against Clemson.
5. Al Gore wets himself when Hillary parts the Cumberland River to deliver fresh batteries for Gore’s “love machine”
6. 476 LA politicians rapture – overcrowding is reduced in Federal Minimum Security prisons by 476.
7. Specially modified cars achieve 56 MPG on a mixture of pickled pigs feet and Spotted Owl poop.
8. Lou Holtz is appointed Poet Laureate of the US, takes 13 hours to read a haiku poem to a joint session of Congress and receives a standing ovation.
9. Obama has a photo op at the Grand Canyon, and as he waves his hands, the great tear in the Earth’s crust is mended. Eighty-three tourists are very pissed and three mule guided groups are missing.
10. Appy State beats LSU 45 – 17.

We always have a chance. We'll have a chance until the last second ticks off the clock. It is difficult to speak about the team because we do have a lot of new guys in key positions but the most important position (AE at QB) isn't in question. As a general statement our recruiting has gotten better over the past few years so I have little doubt our new guys aren't just as talented as the ones who graduated, we've just reloaded. It will be interesting to see how the new guys gel, I think that will be a big part of how we do along with the heat/conditioning.

is it just me, or is this the 100th thread titled exactly this?

One thing's for sure, their chances increase if the team takes them as lightly as some posters do. Jesus Christ, they beat Michigan at the Big House last year and they played a helluva game. Take an overconfident LSU, add a sloppily played game (we had one or two last year, remember?) and you've got problems.
I'm confident Miles will have the team focused, although I wouldn't be surprised to see a turnover or two or maybe some penalties due to poor execution, this being the first game and all. Chances are extremely thin that App St. wins ... but to say they've got no chance is simply wrong.
LSU 34-14.

So has LSU and we are ready to pull the trigger. Sorry that Appy State has to be the first victim.
