Despite the LSU basketball team's dramatic overtime win against No. 5 Tennessee on Saturday, the Tigers remained 13th in the AP Top 25 poll released Monday morning.

LSU, which moved up six spots to 13th a week ago following a win over then-No. 5 Kentucky, stayed put after beating Tennessee and losing to unranked Florida.

Will Wade's team received 836 points in the AP poll to come in just behind No. 12 Nevada, which had 883 points. Purdue was one spot behind LSU with 820 points.

LSU (22-5, 12-2 SEC) has now been ranked for nine weeks this season. It's the most for the program since the 2007 team was ranked for 12 weeks.

LSU is one of three SEC teams in the AP poll.

Kentucky remained fourth, while Tennessee dropped two spots to seventh. Mississippi State and Auburn were among the teams receiving votes.

Kentucky loses at home to LSU, beats UT at home the same week, moves up from #7 to #4.

LSU loses at home to Florida, beats UT at home the same week, stays at #13.

Makes sense

I see nothing wrong with being ranked 13. Sounds about where we should be

If LSU won against Florida at home and lost a close game to Tenn, LSU would have no doubt moved up

LSU was a better loss for Kentucky than Florida was for LSU.

LSU is a better team than Florida, just the way it is

Also, UK beat the absolute dog shite out of UT and the LSU loss was somewhat controversial in the eyes of the media. Different circumstances.

You can't discredit a home loss to UF.

That said, people react to blowouts. Most of the folks voting in these polls aren't watching 30-40 basketball games a night. They are just catching moments here and there and looking at final scores.

For instance, did you watch Va. Tech's game with ND? Or Wisconsin's game? I didn't.

LSU isn't blowing out anyone, so from 30k feet it looks like they are just coming up on the right side of the coin in close games. Plus, there are many that feel the UK win was "illegitimate" and the Tenn. was the result of a gifted foul 70 feet away from the goal

They don't look at the fact that even without the controversial tip, LSU is the ONLY team this year to even be in the game at Rupp in final minute or that LSU beat Tenn. WITHOUT their starting PG. To some guy in Big 10 country it looks like LSU just got "lucky" twice.

I don't, I discredit Kentuky moving up 3 spots after a 1-1 week with a home loss. I also think we've been undervalued most of the season, which also comes with the territory, unfairly, given how bad we've been in recent years

I think people also react a lot to the name on the front of the jersey. I firmly believe that if we were a blue blood program with the same exact resume we'd be ranked close to the top 5. That's my opinion fwiw, not saying I'm right or wrong.

Imagine if you had posted on Tigedroppings on February 25, 2017 that on this date in 2019 LSU would have a new coach and would be atop the SEC standings after beating two top 5 teams and would also be ranked 13th in the country.

I think there will be some positive activity if we avenge the UF loss.

No. 14 in NCAA NET is the only ranking that matters.

LSU is the Donald Trump of college sports, hated, underestimated, and routinely dismissed by 90% of sports media, really remarkable and striking
