I thought it was 5 pm EST. The deadline for declaring for the NFL draft was thursday at 5 EST. 72 hour grace period = 5 pm est today.

EDIT: Hopefully LaFell comes back, that would be the right decision except if his family is just in desperate need for money right now.

Right Decision for who? For us LSU fans?? If Lafell has an indication that he will be picked relatively high in the draft then he should do whats best for him (Isn't that what college is all about anyway helping you attain a career/salary that is best for the individual)

Bottom line is he isn't going to b e picked in the 1st round and is projected as a 2nd, even as late as a 3rd rounder in this year's crop of WR. Besides the fact he could come back and improve his draft stock almost two-fold (from 4-5 million to 8-10 million guaranteed) he can also earn an important thing called a college degree. How many times have we seen guys not make in the NFL after a couple years and then are with the regular work force the rest of their lives? Would you rather go out there with a high school diploma or a college degree?

If his stock was higher and he was a sure fire 1st rounder, no brainer to leave really. But if you can improve your draft stock quite some bit, along with earning your degree, no brainer decisino IMO.

many think he'd be a much higher pick next year. McShay has him listed as the #6 underclassman coming out

Both.

Lafell could cement himself in the 1st round with a solid senior season.

He's a 2nd or 3rd round guy this year.

Yeah but he could fall of the face of the earth (See DB). He is NOT just blindly jumping into the mix. It seems like he is really doing his homework and is doing whats best for him.

By the way he is taking his time with this decision it is obvious he is really weighing his options, getting lots of draft related info, and all in all making a decision that will best suit him and his family.

I just hate when people say he is stupid for coming out early. Hell he could blow out his knee the 1st snap of spring drills and be done forever.

He could blow it out first week in the NFL, earn not much, get put out of the NFL, then he has no college degree.

So he is prohibited from setting foot back on LSU's campus once he declares for the draft?? He can finish his degree whenever he wants. Weak argument...

Do any of you know for sure he will get his degree in just one more year? He may come back and still not get a degree.

Is it worth a chance at injury for a supposed difference of 4 million as opposed to say 6-7 million

I say good luck to him and thanks for the time you gave to this program. I hope it works out for him

Lafell's draft stock will go up after a good combine. that has to be something he is bankin on. college production isnt as important as good combine numbers to most nfl teams. ex vernon davis and the receiver from florida 2 years ago. not outstandin numbers in college but a good combine shows the potential to turn them into all pros
