Crowton could have been fired or resigned last week and we could have been in play for Harsin. This is the only reason I would have rather been in Cap1 bowl

Pretty much everyone I met up with that day was talking about it, a lot of people had it in their facebook statuses, it was all over ESPN, etc.

random people had the Cap One bowl as their facebook status?? I think you're reaching a little. Most folks flipped around and found the best game to watch that day. There was literally no difference in any of those games as far as attraction to the average fan.

I agree. I was at the 07 NC game and the cotton bowl. The atmosphere at this game really was amazing

I barely watched the cap one bowl. It was one of three bowls on and I was at a bar where no one seemed to care either.

This.

No one cared about the Cap1 because Urban Myer was playing his final game and it was against JoePa. I told myself I would flip back and forth but when I saw the rediculous box score in the 1st I said fdat and watched the entire UF PSU game.

The only reason it got press is because Bama steamrolled MSU. Noone cared otherwise.

The only problame I had with this game was it was SOOOOOOOO freakin long from the end of the reg season. That sucks. I moved on to Pro Football and Basketball. I lost interest in college football after Jan 1. Now the guys have to go back to class this week without ANY break. That sucks for the athletes. That is the main reason why I don't want a playoff and would like the season to be one less game.

It has a lot to do with when the game was played. If the Cotton and Cap One switched, the Cotton would have gotten more love. They're about equal on the whole, as far as prestige go. But they didn't play it at a good time. People at this point on a whole don't care as much for a non-BCS college football bowl, especially on a Friday night. Even the SEC friends I have (Bama) were making statuses about the other games that day, like the Gator and Outback, but they weren't yesterday. And then the coverage on ESPN was greater. There was just a general college football buzz. I think it probably had less to do with the game itself, more when it was played. People were just more "in" to college football that day. Again, JMO.

The Cotton Bowl was better by far. Cap One got lost with all the other bowls, Cotton was prime time. No comparison.

I enjoy going to bowl LSU games so I see this as a fan/ team issue. There is no comparison between the two as far as the player and fan experiences go. Cap one is steaming pile of dog dung.
As a recruit I would give extra credence to a team that has the chance to play in a football fantasy land.

You think the Cotton needs a different time/day than a Friday night?

The 1.2B dollar domed stadium really meshes well with LSU's fanbase and superior player talent.

Cotton Bowl is better now with the primetime slot. Cap1 is on like at noon against two other bowl games. I know for the big ten the cap1 is better now. Big ten people want to go to Orlando and Florida in the winter. Dallas is not appealing compared to Orlando with better weather and disney world.

Cotton bowl is a good bowl game with its history and stadium, and matching the big 12 and sec makes good sense unless it becomes a bcs game.

True. For most SEC fans, traveling to a warm-weather destination isn't that big of a deal. When we want 70-degree temps, we just go home.

Neither, I would rather a BCS bowl. Nowadays, anything else doesn't count.

It was on Fox on a Friday night with NFL announcers.

Enough said.

With hindsight, I'd say things worked out for the best. Could have played a Mich St. team that didn't really want to be there when there were at least four other games on that day. Instead, we had the stage all to ourselves, the game looked to be pretty well done, much nicer stadium, and hopefully more exposure for the program. I'd take the Cotton over the Crap1 anyday.
What exposure??? Hardly anyone outside Baton Rouge and College Station had any awareness of this game. ESPN completely snubbed as far as coverage goes before or after the game, our local newspaper did not have ONE SINGLE SOLITARY word about this game, no one that I talked to knew that we were playing this game. Face it, as much as you want to believe that having this game on a week night on a non-ESPN network with no other meaningful games of it within days somehow trumps having the game on New Year's Day, the biggest single day for college football against a more noteworthy higher ranked opponent and all that hype you are ignorant.

I think it either needs to be the first or second. I think it can be a Friday, if it's one of those days. But a Friday on the 7th, I don't think is a good time for it. People are past college football, until the championship, and they're not going to stop their Friday night plans for the Cotton Bowl. The same would be true of the Cap One, if it switched slots.

I did not want it in the first place. Even though they redid the field, I still have bad memories from that fiasco of last year. There was no excuse for that field to be in that bad of shape. Afterall, we have a grass field, and we find a way to maintain it. They could have done the same.

Moreover, the cotton bowl just felt better. As far as I am concerned, if we are not playing for the BCS NC, or the Sugar Bowl, I'd just as soon go to Dallas. People were comfortable, and the game had the nation's attention last night.

Loved the game. And I have a feeling that the Cotton Bowl will be joining the BCS.
