Anyone on the board that was alive to see Cannon's return...

I imagine it would be one of those moments that you remember exactly where you were, who you were with, and what you were doing. The moments for me like that are the Blue Grass Miracle, the first NC game against OU and the Morris HR in the CWS.
I wasn't close to being born then, but I would love to hear stories from Tiger fans who were.

Didn't see it but heard it on the radio. My parents were taking us to my grandmother's and we always stopped at a small cafe at Armistead, LA for Dad to get coffee. We were sitting in the car and Dad would not leave the car because he did not want to miss anything.
My mother was breaking his balls to go in, get the coffee, and get us back on the road. As soon as Billy crossed that goal line Dad lit a shuck and got the coffee and we were back on the road.
Got to my grandmother's and that's all Dad and my uncle could talk about until late in the night.
If I recall correctly, one guy from our home town was at the game and suffered a heart attack after the run.

Did not see the run, I was only 5, but did get his autograph sometime in 1959.

Where does this rank among your greatest LSU moments that stick with you? Curious if not seeing it changes anything for you.
This question can be for anybody who was around for it and listened/heard.

I guess it wasn't televised? So either you were at the game, or had to listen on radio?

I had a tin bucket and a Change Belt and I walked the stands. People only wanted 7Up to mix their high balls, and the ice in cups, I was 10yrs old.

I heard on radio. My dad, former LSU basketball player, was there. Couldn't hear last 40 yds. Crowd noise, until i heard Billy Cannon returns the punt 89 yards for TD...great all-American. Goal line stand was just as exciting with Cannon leading the way.

Probably because he's embarrassed by your post.

I was 6. My mom and dad went. They picked my brother and I up from the sitters and my dad was half tanked and it was all he could talk about. When we got home he danced with my mother in the kitchen and sang The Tennessee Waltz for their music. My brother and I died laughing. We figured he was drunk and was embellishing the run.
We saw the news the next day and he remembered it EXACTLY! Down to how many tackles he broke.

My parents weren't quite alive yet for that game.

WWL radio was how we listened to the games. My older brothers and I listened to LSU games on our console radio. Since it was Halloween, we may have been out trick or treating, so I don’t remember listening to that game. Because we were in north Louisiana, the broadcast would fade in and out.
