I was at my uncle’s house. My older cousin and I had just come in from trick or treating. I remember my uncle had the radio on, was listening to the game, and at one point got all excited - kept talking about somebody called Billy... and a big touchdown run. I was under 10 years old, not real football savvy at that point, but I caught the excitement from my uncle and cousin that night.

My Dad was at that game, he was only 8 yrs old. He remembered how loud it got. He said the stadium was shaking.

Too bad he wasn't thrilled about it because he was an Ole Miss fan at the time

Every time I see that run it’s in slow motion. Unless the players were really that slow. I’d like to see it actual speed. The other thing I notice is the sideline ref running almost stride for stride with Billy Canon.

There as a ten year old. Only season with purchased tickets, followed by years as Boy Scout usher, Red Cross stretcher bearer......and in student section.

Yes it was crazy, after the winning points LSU defense held O'l Piss on a goal line & lost the ball to LSU on 4 th down! The Cannon run was beautiful!

I was there, as an 11 year old, sitting in the first row in the upper deck south end zone! Yes, a game I will always remember! Geaux Tigers! Still have season tickets today! Geaux Tigers!

I was a freshman sitting in the student section - absolutely one of the most amazing memories I've ever had. The return was stunning, the game overall was so tense, I still get exhausted thinking about it. The most tense point of the game was the goal line stop by Cannon & Rabb at end of game.

I went to high school with Cannon, I was a freshman when he was a junior. Saw him compete two years in high school & two years in college.

Many stories re that run that game. One funny story was when Gibbs came the LSU as the head baseball coach of Ole Miss. When Gibbs first appeared, the crowd at Box Statium began to chant "tackle him Jake, tackle him Jake" to which Gibbs replied "come on 5 or 6 guys a shot at him before me". ... Gibbs punted to Cannon & he ran by him on way to TD.

I was 4 so no. When folks complained about Cholly Mac in the 60's dad would explain that LSU is consistently ranked.

Yes, I was there - see post above - the referee running along side of Cannon was a ref, he just was not working the game. He dressed in his ref uniform and walked in, didn't have ticket. The story was he got caught up in excitement of game and ran with Cannon to end zone. Really shows how totally exausted Cannon was.

Yes I was there in Tiger stadium, age 9. Remember it as a loud, wild crowd. The run sticks in my memory. Also the rowdy drunk Rebel fans because we were sitting right above them in the South upper deck
