2016: Coastal Carolina

2017: Florida (I know it was the finals but still counts)

2018: Oregon State

What are you guys thoughts on that?

I don't like it when people refer to the Championship Series as the finals

Coastal Carolina is a direct result of 35 man rosters and parity
Florida - LSU ran out of pitching but probably helped Florida by beating Oregon St, the Walker injury was the difference from at least pushing Florida in that 3 game series.
Oregon St was the most talented team last year and LSU did not have a chance in Corvallis especially with pitching injuries.

I was gonna say the CWS but that usually applies to the whole Omaha thing, and I wanted the emphasize we lost the championship series.

Was there. So many ups and downs that series.

And why didn’t Paul pull Reynolds after one round through after what, 3 straight walks?

I thought the decision to start Reynolds was a great one. I thought the decision to let him throw to any batter a second time was absolutely bonkers.

the Walker injury screwed up our entire pitching rotation throughout the CWS. I think we may have been better off had he never started a game in Omaha. But had he been there, we definitely could have beaten Florida. We just had to burn so many of our long relief arms and pitch Poche/Lange on short rest just to get to the championship series. And remember, we had to start Russell Reynolds in game 1, then burn Nick Bush in game 1, and still only lost by 1 and had a chance to win that game. If we're able to steal game one, we would have had Lange ready by game 3, and obviously our chances of winning the title would have been great at that point. Really sucks but that was one of the funnest runs we've had IMO. We've never had to come through the losers bracket before. Only title we won with any losses in Omaha was in 1993, but that was a loss in the semi-finals, so we only played in one true elimination game, whereas we played in three straight 2 years ago.

I don’t see the problem in him starting that last inning. He was pitching good but once someone got on base that should have been it They still had chances to win that game and if in game 2 they had chances as well. Even if they win game 2 doesn’t mean they would have won it all. They would have had to have Lange throw a complete game in game 3. Hess was done and idk who you would have gone to late in that game to win late. That team lacked pitching depth to start Omaha then Walker went down it was an uphill battle.

Those back to back wins against Oregon State May be the best non championship moments in LSU baseball history tho.

We should have had someone ready to go at the start of the inning and didn't. Reynolds' performance, however, was about as brave a performance as you'll see.

No it doesn't, but I like our chances with Lange on the mound in game 3 against Florida's #3.

Gilbert would have been available if needed. He hadn't pitched since June 24, and game 3 would have been played on June 28. Beck would have been available as well. And if absolutely necessary, Bain could have thrown, possibly even Bush for a couple of batters.
