Anyone know what happened to Chad Jones?

Knew had had TJ surgery awhile back and was curious to see where he'd be starting this year in the minors. Pulled up his page on milb.com and saw he was released by the Reds organization in December and has yet to be signed by another team. Couldn't find any recent news whatsoever through google searches either. Anyone know if he's still trying to play or what's going on with his future as a player?

Man I miss that guy every time I hear his name I think of two plays... The punt return vs MSU when Peterson was windmilling and the play he was ear holed huge hit! And bounced off the ground like nothing happened... Would have been a stud at NY

That was miss st. but he's that was awesome
And he made those three plays on the goaline stand at the end of the game to actually seal it

Makes me think of curveballs and bumping his chest. He was so awesome.

yeah, that's the most recent article i could find. that was dated last October, and he was released in December. He had TJ surgery in May of 2014, so his rehab should be over.

I don't make many baseball games, but I was glad to be there against Auburn when he took the mound for the first time. That was a lot of fun. Dude looked way to big to be a pitcher, but he had some good heat for sure.

Two favorite Chad Jones moments for me is the two shutout innings he pitched in game 3 v Texas & forcing the fumble against Bama in 07.

Yeah, I thought no way is this a good idea, and then he just blew guys away with that heat...

Ear holed by Dexter McCluster vs Ole Miss, in a day time CBS game. When I saw that play I became a fan of Chad Jones immediately... He bounced rite up like he landed on a trampoline and went after the ball carrier, simply amazing! I remember Gary commentating "That Chad Jones is going to be something else, playing on Sunday's." What a highlight & LSU legend, 2 sport national champ!

He wasn't just heat though, his slider was filthy.

Oh, I agree, and it set up that fast ball so well, that they looked silly..

I remember him striking out the side in the CWS and Texas batters not staring him down, lol.
I saw the ear hole hit against arky live from field level in the north end zone. so violent.
I love me some Chad Jones. Lucky to say I met him once before the wreck and he seemed so happy go lucky.

Please stop making these threads unless he actually does make it back. One of the greatest Tigers of all time. Just reading about it makes me sick at my stomach.

I met him on the sideline of the LSU and Florida game in 2011. This was just after he had run is first timed 40 after the wreck and rehab. He was very nice and took time to talk to me for a few minutes despite being surrounded by numerous people and former team mates.I congratulated him on the 40 time and told him I was pulling for him. He was very thankful and just an all around good guy. One of my all time favorites for sure.

Another memorable one is that hit against that Arkansas wide receiver in '09. Both of them were out of it after that hit.
