I've never done it but am thinking about doing it for the game in November.

For those who have done it before, what was it like? All LSU fans on board? Was there ever significant delays?

I would take the train the Saturday morning of the game and it has the train arriving in Tuscaloosa at 12:49pm. It may be cutting it close if the game is at 2:30pm (which it most likely will be) but I'm fine with the limited tailgate time as I've been to the LSU game there the last 4 times.

Rode the train to Atlanta this year. Its pretty cool and you can bring ice chests on the train and . the trip to Atlanta had several LSU fans on it, but we didnt take over the whole thing.

Rode the Amtrak from New Orleans to Houston with my son and will never, ever again take the train.

Amtrak trains have the lowest priority on the rails that it shares with freight trains. Be prepared to sit idle waiting for the tracks to free up.

Did it for Nick Saban's first year at Bama and it was AWESOME!

Had some friends that did this. They hated it because the train kept breaking down. Almost missed the game. They rented a car for the return trip.

I would most certainly do it, the option is cheap and easy, and the people whine are d bags and are forgetting about traffic jams and flight delays. Amtrak is a great way to travel if you aren't a shill for big auto or oil.

Had some friends did this last time. They said it was a blast.

I've wanted to do this ever since I heard about the trip about 6 years ago.

Friends said it cost $750.00 per which included train, buses (to/from stadium/hotel room), tailgate, tickets to the game, and hotel room.

My experience with Amtrack from ATL to NO and back was outstanding. Made the trip with a group of friends. 3 excellent meals served in each direction. Would recommend a full sleeper if you are traveling with someone. It is not that much more. The space, convenience and privacy is worth it.

Richard Condon alert at the :45 second mark. He ages so gracefully.

Have done it. Prepare for copious amounts of drinking. Maybe more than at tailgating.

Douche bag remark!

We ride the train every year for the Bama game. You can have your cocktails and not have to worry about getting a DUI. We leave on Friday morning and come back on Sunday. The train is cheap but the cabs will cost you. On average we take about 6 cabs in 3 days. The LSU fan to regular passenger ration is about 2.5 to 1. Lots of music, food and just a damn good time. We'll be making our 4th trip in 7 years on the train. It's definitely a good experience.

Dude, really? Train is best way to travel in NE United States and Europe. It's also not that cheap, especially if you are using Acela.

If you are on a time schedule NEVER travel Amtrak. I have taken the train from NOLA to Chicago and from NOLA to DC. On time is something that Amtrak is not known for. You are more likely to be an hour late or more than on schedule.

Other than that its mostly a nice ride with great views of every junk yard and trailer park in the South.

You realize that there are two trains that really service the entire south on Amtrak right?

The US rail and European rail systems dont belong in the same sentence. That train to TCL from NOL will take almost 6 hours and there is 1 train to choose from to go 290 miles and run about 80 dollars for 2 people.

In Europe you could travel 200 miles from Paris to Brussels on the Thalys in 1 hour and 20 min for 74 USD for 2 people. With an train leaving almost every hour.

My husband and I were on that trip in the video.
Lots of LSU fans on that trip! Met a bunch of
great people. We got on a charter bus in Baton Rouge which took us to New Orleans to the Amtrack Station. We had a great time I would definitely recommend the trip.

I rode it for the Ole Miss game in 2005. It was a lot of fun, but be prepared to wait at the train station. I enjoyed it, but the train was really late.
