Anyone else think LF shouldn't be returning kickoffs?

I'm afraid that's going to wear him out much sooner....plus chances of an injury or hard hit are much more on a kickoff return. Isn't there anyone else on the team...a wide receiver, a corner, an athlete....who has the speed to return kickoffs?
Proud of my TIGAHS for a gutsy win in the swamp tho!

If he starts to get more carries during the game I would support kick return duties going to another player especially in the second half of games.

I don't see a problem with it. Girley at Georgia does it also. Wouldn't mind seeing White back there some.

I Doubt it would really wear him out. However I do hate the idea of putting him on the field with the ball and 11 guys building up steam over 50 yards running down the field and doing anything it takes to bring him down.

LOL....I usually get it right on the third try.

If we keep giving him 20+ carries a game (which I think we should), then I definitely support having someone else back there.
Still, he has been very productive.

Those all purpose yards will garner some Heisman votes next year and the year after. I don't know if it is a lack of vision or what but I don't think he is exceptional in that role. I'd love to see Miles throw it to him more in open space.

It depends on who we put back there IMO.
LF is still averaging 23yards per return, which is like 4th or 5th in the SEC.
People are over reacting about him as the returner.
BUT... If we lean on him like last night, and we should, to were hes getting 20+carries per game... I would like to see someone else back there strictly because I dont want him to wear down.
The question is, who do you put back there?
Dural? Hes too valuable to us to risk him back there IMO.
Hilliard? NOPE...
sarcasm
White? He already does punt returns. Im really comfortable with White wherever he is and think he would be an excellent kick off returner, but hes also our top CB by far and already returns punts.
Honestly, the guy I would like to see back there is DJ Chark. I think it would be a perfect spot for him. Hes a WR and excellent athlete with great speed. And has already played so its not like he can be redshirted. I think its a great way to get him out there and get him adjusted to this level of play.

Fournette doesn't get hurt. He delivers the hurt.

This surprises me bc I don't think he looks that explosive on returns. I don't think he's come even close to breaking one yet. He finds the pile around the 24 yd line every time

DJ Chark?
And you've seen enough to know that Chark is as good as Fournette and has excellent ball security?
No, you haven't
You know who I'd like to see? The guy the coaches - who know way more than you - want to see.

Penrod... Chill out. I even said I like him back there and said his stats back there and how hes 1 of the better returners in the SEC. Relax. I love LF back there. But if he starts getting 20+ carries from here on out, might be safe to get him off kick off return duty due to the risk of injury and he just takes more hits. Take a deep breathe bro. All I did was make a suggestion of who to put back there IF we take LF off KORs. Thats it. Never did I said I want Chark back there over LF or whatever.

I started this thread a few weeks back. Be prepared to get slammed for being a LF hater.

he's not the type to be a kickoff returner. I would rather see white or jefferson or even MD or one of the other wideouts.
LF is not the most elusive guy out there

I agree that we need a different KR. It just isn't a good fit.
Fournette doesn't have the moves or quickness to be a threat, and I'm not sure he has the raw speed either. Basically, he just takes the ball and slams into the pile.
So, that leads to several things. First off, he might end up getting hurt. He doesn't seem to try to avoid head-on collisions much, if at all. Secondly, he's then wasted for the 1st offensive play of the drive. Even if he's out there, he's a little winded.

How about some Miquel James on Kick Returns. He looks to be a Tridon Holliday type player.

I am not that worried about LF getting extra all purpose yards for a trophy campaign, I am worried about LSU winning games. LF is going to be a fine or even great RB. He hasn't shown much on kick returns and most are not returnable anyway.I'm not that worried about injury as I am production. We had Odell last year doing both punts and KOs and he was outstanding. You could argue that he was as important to LSU last year as LF is this year.
