You think Kelly is just handing the job to Nuss in 2024?

He handed it to Daniels in 2022.
Why do think he will change in 2024.
There was never any competition.

Depends who you ask. Rivals says 5 star

Rivals is a really bad these days, IMO. I also think they are the worst of the services

He was a 5-star earlier in the ranking cycle but others passed him in his senior season. ON3 and 247 composite had him as a 4-star, albeit a very high one.

I kind of wish he would have stayed. You just can't project how he's going to develop over the next few years. But I guess you could say the same thing about Nuss, Collins and Hurley

The kid transferred in less than a year on campus.

When he did play this year, he looked like a true freshman not some seasoned vet

I mean to be fair, he was a true freshman.

It seems like most people are locking themselves into one of two camps:

1. Walker Howard was our future and Daniels/Kelly pissed that future away. He’s going to go elsewhere and be a great player, so if LSU doesn’t win a natty immediately it means we fricked up.

2. Walker Howard hasn’t lived up to his HS rating and wasn’t going to beat Nuss out in ‘24. We are fine without him.

Honestly, I think both of these stances are a bit silly and extreme. He very well may light it up somewhere else (long term) and I’d certainly rather have him on the team. But that doesn’t mean we fricked up, and in today’s era I don’t think you can let long term transfer concerns dictate your short term decisions. There is no guarantee that anyone on the roster right now will be here in 2024.

I wish he would stick around but that’s life in the transfer portal era. It’s why we are taking a QB every year.

shows ineptness by the coaching staff to retain its 5 star players

How would you have gotten Walker to stay? Walker is a smart kid and knows that JD is the starter in 2023 and Nuss will get his fair share of playing time. Where does that leave Walker? Nuss should be your starter in 2024 and Walker was not impressive in the Citrus although he had opportunities. Walker was the one most likely to transfer. Good luck to him except when he plays us!

I don’t. I don’t think he’d ever win the starting job.

Yep. Every single coaching staff in the country is inept.

I don’t. If Nuss has the arm talent he seems to have and doesn’t leave, Howard would have started for one season only. That’s only if, Hurley or Collins didnt pass him up. Based on HS film alone, those two have better arm talent than Howard already.

He’s only about 5’10-5’11 and he looked terrible against Purdue. He should transfer to Southeastern

I'm fine with it. Its the reality of NIL and free agency.
