I was a student and if my drunk memory serves me this is the game before we played Christian Laetner, Grant Hill and the rest of the evil empire of Duke. Great game.

I’m not sure anything at the PMAC will ever beat the Oklahoma game from a couple years ago

I think your wrong, but the atmosphere for that OU game was surreal

I was in the 1st row at that Oklahoma game. That was one of the better ones in recent years but that would have been an average night during the heyday of the Dale Brown era. I was a student from 1980 - 1983. Back then there was no better atmosphere in college basketball then the Assembly Center which we packed every game. And that goes double for when we used to pack the Superdome. Not to sound like an old geezer but.....

PMAC at it's best was Loyola Maramount and UNLV

That was close though

Those were great. Shaq’s Coming out party against Arizona may have been the best. The games against Arky with Scotty Thurman, Corliss Williamson, and the Big O were off the chain.

Yeah. That was about as good as it gets. I was not at that one but I watched it on TV. That was on Super Bowl Sunday.

That's a good one, but I'll still vote for LSU/Duke. O'Neal vs Laettner, LSU vs the evil empire, that noise meter thing hanging from the roof. Place was a madhouse the whole time, and then we somehow wind up by 6 with 3-4 left. Of course Duke pulled it out but that game will always stick out as the most insane crowd in the PMAC to me.

I’ve been to hundreds of games in the PMAC. Nothing tops the Loyola-Marymount game. Everyone stood the entire game. Loud as hell the whole time. The style of play was intense from start to finish. I thought Randy Devall was going to die.

I’ve personally seen many more games better than that. Those games in the late 70’s to early 90’s had 2-3 like that every year. Remember with Houston came in the 82-&: season and beat us. That was a hyped game. Didn’t end well.

There was a game against UK in 1978 that featured 3 UK first-rounders vs an up and coming LSU team. All 5 starters for LSU fouled out. Guess who won in overtime?

It was insanely loud! This was the night that LSU basketball officially arrived.

That game in 1978 was the beginning of the big time of the Dale Brown era. Eventually it came to an end but it was fun while it lasted and it lasted for a long time.

Dang... I saw this too late. My freshman year, roommates and I didn’t miss a home game. Camping out on PMAC ramp for the big games. Students got in free back then for BB games, is that still the case now?

My Freshman year also and we camped out for every game. I was in the Shaq pack. My grades suffered tremendously
