Avg. 39.9 pts/game at ND this year.

Here’s the issue- Denbrock would have been better than Sloan, but still not good enough with Nuss. Looking at what you saw tonight, do you really think he would have been super successful paired with a spread passing QB? It’s pretty clear he left to go back to what he’s comfortable doing- conservative, run-heavy, ball control offense primarily all out of 2 and 3 TE sets. What you see at ND currently is what he was running apart from Kelly at Cinci, but not here.

Denbrock wasn’t going to ever be able to fully implement that kind of an offense here. He adjusted well and made it work with Daniels and I give him full credit for that, but ND’s QB and offense are a tell-tale sign that he didn’t really want to coach our post 2019 brand of football. What he’s doing now is HIS offense and what he wants to do. It’s better that he’s not here anymore if that’s the case. We may need to upgrade from Sloan, but Denbrock was not the long-term answer here, either.

Denbrock’s offense relies on a QB that runs. He wouldn’t have worked well with Nuss.

I didn’t expect to, but his play calling is far superior to Sloan’s.

Doubt he could have helped the defense.

While I don't think he had much to do with JD's scrambing offense, I do now admit that I think we would have been better this year with Denbrock. Sloan/BK play design and play calling left a lot to be desired.
I hope a change is made for next year. I surely don't want to watch LSU run the same boring offense again next year especially without an experienced Oline. Hard to believe our running game could be much worse, but if some serious play design and play calling doesn't happen, I do believe it will be worse. Without play action, which requires a good running game, our passing game will also suffer. So yes, I miss Denbrock unless we can do better next year with a new OC hire.

This is true. Sloan is not a good OC and is in over his head.

Nuss would have become a dual threat QB in a Denbrock system

What coach was responsible for arranging such a schedule?

Then he wouldn’t have finished the season. I think we’ve seen enough to know that.

The times that Nuss played under Denbrock, he didn’t run him like he did Daniels. I don’t think that would have changed if he had stayed here. I just don’t think he wanted to run that kind of offense and left partly because of it. ND is a perfect fit for the type of offense Denbrock really wants to run.

Eh, the same posters here criticizing Sloan said many of the same things of Denbrock throughout his tenure here.

Well UGA would probably beat anybodys arse considering their talent, coach, and the fact that they are probably the 2nd best team in the country

Which doesn’t equate to shite. They also lost at home to Northern Illinois
