I’m sure if that’s true Kelly is the reason CR has a “prove it” contract and will be easy to cut ties with if he doesn’t perform like he needs to.

They haven't been.

Dude is a conceited blowhard.
He's wrong as much as he is right, but doesn't like to hear about it after being wrong about some pretty big things.

Josh Pate knows frickall about the inner workings of the LSU football program. And, oh by the way, he’s a huge Alabama fan.

Also, prepare for this thread to be anchored. Because apparently you’re not allowed to speak ill of Josh Pate or Matt Moscona here. Those are the sacred cows.

Honestly dude, it could very well be Baker too. Kelly loves plucking people he's worked with in the past. Even if he thought Baker was good, could've been pushing for someone he was more familiar with.
Everybody does this. WTF kind of point are you trying to make? Also, before he hired Matt House, he tried to hire Brad White, who was and still is Kentucky's DC.

Hiring Baker made all the sense in the world. It was obvious what he was going for with his hires.

But in all honesty, the defensive staff Kelly put together (and road with) for 2 full seasons was pretty frickin bad. So I'm not sure he should be given full immunity again.
Can we chill out with the revisionist history? Last year was horrible. DL recruiting and coaching was horrible, DB coaching was horrible. However the defense in 2022 was not. LSU played the #1, #4, #4 (yes they were tied), #16, and #29 scoring offenses in the country, yet finished 33rd in scoring defense. LSU's rush defense was onoy 63rd, but they had the #32 pass defense. That pass defense played the #5, #10, #15, #19, and #28 pass offenses. In All seriousness, if LSU didn't play in the SECCG vs that UGA team, we would have been top 20 in scoing defense, top 30 in pass defense and top 50 in rush defense.

Who was he going to get once the DL coach had a medical emergency? Why are we keep forgetting that? People keep saying he should have gotten somebody, WHOOO? At that time, who was available?

The recruiting at safety and LB wasn't bad. Hell even the Edge recruiting was good.

Him waiting til after the bowl season allowed him to get every elite developer and some top notch recruiters on that side. They already listed in various different metrics that LSU made the big leap in coaching staff rankings
quote:

He's a great head coach. He's always shown to be spotty with his coordinator hires though.
if he makes a bad pick, usually it only lasts for a season. He doesn't hold on to terrible coaches. His last 3 DC hires, all 3 of which being first time power 5 DCs, went from being good with him to being hired as a power 5 head coach.

Kelly knows what he's doing. He's built four dead in the water programs up. And started it the last 2 years with LSU.

After the gross incompetence of the defense last year and BK doing zero to fix it until the season was over, I have no problem with SW intervening

What would you have had him do?

I'm a fan of the guy. I think he's pretty knowledgeable, and he's generally pro-Kelly - which is rare among national college football folks.

Pate is the man. Even if he says a thing or two I don’t agree with

Doesn’t make him ‘trash’ or whatever word the rant is using this week.

I love the way he does his show. It’s a mainstay for me during CFB

I’d guess Bo Davis was not solely a Kelly hire but I doubt he minds that

lol what? Why would you think the biggest hire in maybe the entire nation that isn’t a head coach not be BKs hire?

True CBK makes more than whole staff, AD, Chancellor, and President all added together.

I used to watch him. No more. He started by sucking up to a few SEC fanbases…LSU being one… now he’s gone national he caters to whoever he thinks will get him subscribers///

Josh pate pumps every team up until he doesn’t. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him say anything negative

Josh Pate is the best talking head in CFB and it’s not even close.

Did he say “stave moves” or staff hires”? There’s a big difference in being told he has to hire someone, as opposed to being told he needed to let someone go. Both are considered “staff moves”. At the same time, I could see Woodward or even prominent boosters saying “You need to go after Bo Davis.” But I also would think CBK, would be on board with that, anyway. So that one isn’t much of a “force”.

Not saying it's true, but if it were, I'd put money on CR being one of those hires.

This wouldn’t be a bad thing for Corey to know he has to prove himself all over again.
