At least until his conditioning/motivation/injury/whatever improves? Maybe he's mailed it in, maybe he's actually trying but he's literally way too out of shape. Whatever it is should get resolved first. If he wants to save himself for the draft, fine, let him ride the bench and give Chaisson the starting role.

He is not playing inspired football on every down and looks lost/ out of position on many plays. I agree he should not get in shape during actual game.

That's why games are recorded. The "eye in the sky" does not lie. He has zero explosion, on plays where he should be pursuing he is jogging and watching. For all his effort, he should just buy a ticket and watch the game.

You can't definitively say it is not related to his injury. It hard to agree that a kid who was so explosive and competitive has now done a complete 180 his final season with so many eyes on him. To me he seems frustrated.

If this is what's causing it then let him rest, he's not helping his recovery or the team very much at this point.

It would actually be best for him. Playing at half speed and out of shape greatly increases the probability that he will get injured. He still has a chance at an NFL career, but he needs more time to get back in football shape before putting himself at risk. The SEC will be very tough and physical, and he is most certainly not up to it right now.

Moscona made a good point yesterday.

Arden Key is at LSU because of Orgeron. If he has checked out what hope is there for the rest of the team? He's a leader, I imagine a good bit of the team follows his lead.

Key should show up and play like the Tiger he is.

Look- I love that Key came here and busted his arse for 2 years but he doesn't care and he's gotten fat. At this put K'Lavon > Key.

If key is supposedly a top 10 pick in the draft, he will man up and play his arse off the rest of the year. If he isn’t willing to lay it on the line, sit him.

I watched him on almost every play he was in last week.

I say he took off around 90% of the plays. Barely trotted. Could be wrong, but it seems clear to me that either:

- he no longer gives a frick;

or

- he's afraid of reinjury or getting another injury, thereby hurting his draft stock.

Unless he changes his level of play dramatically, I think you have to bench him. He's not doing much at all.

Before the offseason issues Arden would've been one of the last players that I would expect to give up on this team. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that it may be something out of his control like shoulder recovery or just not being in good enough shape right now. But the point stands, he's simply not ready to be playing at this level right now whatever the reason may be.

I think there is more to it than the shoulder injury!

I'm torn.

On one hand, we could use the experience on the field. And I did see on play against Troy where Key (apparently with no prompting from anyone), pre-snap, run all the way across the field and lined up somewhere between where a DE and the slot reciever would be, he was out in no-mans land all by his lonesome. I thought he had lost it. Troy ran an end around right to him. He sniffed it out; notable was that means Aranda had both figured it out AND communicated it.

On the other, if he's only effective X number of plays due to conditioning than that experience isn't being utilized. Some young buck should be in there.

So the answer lies in saving him for both pivotal downs (3rd and medium or long) and pivotal series.
