Look, I think we all like Shep, but he's just not a good football player.

Well he is rated 43rd of the wr and normally over 35 of them get picked....Id say yes.

Three out of the last 4 years less than 30 WRs were drafted, Id say No.

Bryce Brown got drafted based on potential. May happen to Shep as well.

Everyone in this thread is forgetting that Shep was a 5* recruit because he was a QUARTERBACK in HS.

His talent isn't a question here, but the way he was used at LSU exposed him. Great guy, and he even caved to stick around for his Sr year and that caused him to fall off the map. Part of it may be because he got lazy and didn't improve his ball skills though.

I wish him the best and hope someone picks him up for his potential and develops him the way LSU never did.

I appreciate what a great ambassador for the program RS has been and applaud him for getting his degree. But RE: how his college career turned out? That's on him. By the reports at the time he asked out of the QB position and turned out not to be game changer at WR

We may as well moved him to long snapper. We knew midway through 2010 that he had a long way to go as a WR.

When JJ was out in 2011, RS should've had a shot behind JL to see what he could do. RS was used more as a WR running TE cross routes to throw off defenses.

Maybe I'm just disappointed he never got a chance to show what he could do as a passer. But hell, Ware got a special play and threw a TD, why didn't Shep??

This is his only chance in the NFL; some team feels he has the ability and the mindset to be coached into a productive product on the field and takes a shot at coaching him up.

As for his talent, it's there but doesn't seem to be NFL level as others pointed out. I think he's going to have to rely on his charisma in order to persuade teams he can do better with proper coaching. Then again, no one likes an excuse like that.

Seems Every Winning progam in NCAA FBS has at least One RS on their team. So What makes him different ? He is in a really Big Pile.

Hihgly doubtful he is drafted but could get a UFA offer.

For those who scoff at his chances, Terrell Davis was a little used back at UGa in the early 9-0's who was a pretty fair NFL back. People wondered what Ray Goff was thinking keeping him on the bench at Georgia.

Coaching has little to do with the ability to catch the ball on a consistent basis after four years at an SEC school.

No more than Shaq being unable to improve his terrible FT shooting was the result of poor coaching.

I wish RS the very best, but if the pros don't hardly want to take time to look at a player, his chances of getting drafted are very slim to none.

I disagree with the idea that RS didn't improve over his years at LSU. He became a much more physical player. He came in terribly weight room week. Remember how easily he got tossed around his freshman year. Also his hands weren't that bad by his senior year, his route running improved, and he became a pretty good backup WR.

and you know this how, expert??

I've been watching football long enough to recognize NFL talent. RS does not have it. He's fast, not particularly quick, not elusive, and is definitely not very strong. The only thing I ever saw him do that looked remotely like NFL caliber was run fast - and he's not THAT fast.

can't wait to see what his 40 time is going to be at pro day just to put this whole thing to rest. Some posters on here seem to think he has blazing speed.

And yet no one outside of LSU recruited him as a quarterback, which says a lot. And we only offered him a 'chance' to compete at QB.

I love Shep and wish the best for him...but the best was never going to be QB and it looks like it won't be as professional football player. I think he'd make a damn good recruiter, though. And a good coach maybe.

Did you see his HS highlights? He was QB because he was the best athlete on the team, not because he was a pro-style drop back QB.

To answer your question is there a chance, well yes it is. He has been working out for different teams and there may be a coach that sees something in him. That being said that chance is extremely low imo. But who knows he may turn out to be a decent player in the league. I doubt it, but hey there is that teeny tiny itty bitty insy winsy chance

He was getting run down from behind in the SEC .. How do you think that equates to any chance in the NFL ?

He was given plenty of opportunities as QB his freshman year. I saw him pass at a scrimmage...some things you should be able to unsee. Ware threw a better pass, plain and simple.

Best of luck to him and his pro career or his book writing ventures. He was overrated. It happens. Call Jamarcus Russell, the No. 1 overall NFL draft pick.
