Mingo needs to get bigger to play in the NFL, or try to be a linebacker.

Does anyone think that Sam and Mingo will come back next year to attempt to win a NC?

No chance for Sam. Slim for Mingo.

eta: 777Tiger nailed it. Mingo will have tough time being drafted high as an NFL DE at his size. Might want to stick around

They're best friends. Sam is quoted as saying if Mingo returns he'll return.

mingo has had an off year. doesn't he have like 2 sacks. thats awful for a speed rush de. if he doesn't play better in the remaining games, I don't see how he will be a first rounder. one year starter and not a good year.

Don't you think Mingo would have already put on weight though...just because he stays doesn't necessarily mean that he will put on weight. If I remember correctly I think it was mentioned that he lost weight from last year. Only place Mingo gains weight it in the pro's and I think they will be able to do that easily. If sam leaves mingo leaves, pro scouts see his speed and size. Things you can't teach.

Oh please baby jeezus. I know Sam has NOTHING left to prove and Mingo very little.
But Mingo could have a better year next year and improve. Sam would just be doing Mingo and LSU a favor by staying, not himself.

Negative Ghost Rider.

ETA: Dammit, DanglingFury, you beat me to it.

To say I would love to see them return is putting it mildly. I do think they're gone though.

I'm with you. My fave player of all time is Gabe Northern. Very similar to Mingo by most accounts. Struggled to produce and find a groove in the NFL.

eta: I was just reinstated and that post reminded me to change my avi.

Mingo will be a 3-4 blitzing LB, hes projected top 10, some top 5. Could definitely see both leaving.

Montgomery has already come back once. I believe he stated something like if he doesn't believe the guy behind him can step up and replace him then he'd return. With Reid, Minter, Simon, Logan, Montgomery, and Mingo all being draft eligible juniors I hope we can return at least 3 of those names.

That would be awesome
i hope we can get at least 3-4 of them to come back

YES. hope this is how he is used. Not try to force him into a 4-3 DE somewhere. Hate to see same thing happen to him as Northern. But that was a very different NFL back then.

3-4 OLBs with Mingo's athleticism are rare, scouts will salivate over him. He'll go and go high. Don't get your hopes up over him having an "off" year
