I am looking for some recomendations. The Marriott @ Texas Medical Center appears to be nice and fairly close to the stadium. I am not real familiar with the area. Anyone have any input?

Just did.....most of the hotels within close walking distance are sold out....we booked a cheapie.....Medical Inns and Suites....0.6 miles away....bout $70 with tax...best we could do to walk to stadium.

Take a look at the Courtyard Houston Downtown, right on the Metrorail line which will take you to the stadium for $1.25 each way. Don't know how expensive it is for a late August weekend.

Living in Houston I say book at Hotel on the Light Rail Line. It is a breeze to get to Reliant that way. BTW the Marriot Medical Center is right on the Light Rail line. You get off and you are there. Prime location. My brother works for Marriott and he had to work at that hotel a few days and the place is pretty nice. Just a heads up though, you do have people who are patients at hospitals in the Medical Center staying there. Nothing too crazy though.

Hyatt Downtown still had some rooms when I booked. $104/night and can take the Metro to the stadium

It's such a "business first" town that weekend rates are always great - unless there is a really huge event in town.
Hilton Americas Downtown and Four Seasons are also not terribly far from the rail line.

I'm in a Holiday Inn Express adjacent to the stadium. I also have a few rooms in a Hampton Inn that is walking distance. Will probably cancel the rooms at Hampton. If anyone is interested, they can post email for me.

Booked at the Crowne Plaza across the street from the stadium.

There is a Motel Six on 610 about a mile away from Reliant as well.

I'll rent you my old room at my parents house for... Eh... $500 for the weekend.

Don't book a shite hotel within walking distance, you'll regret it (unless you're a poor). Rather, look for places along the Metro Rail line. This likely will put you either in downtown, Hermann Park, or Med Center. The train is quick, easy, and cheap. Plus, it can drop you off right in midtown for the nightlife

FYI there is straight ghetto really close to the reliant and the med center. Its basically woven into the area so you can go from really nice to really scary really quick... A really cheap price prob means

Thinking about bringing the wife and kids. They do not not want to stay downtown, looks like Pearland is close and has some decent places to stay. Is that a nice area and how is the drive from Pearland to the stadium?

You can also look at The Magnolia and Hotel Icon downtown. Both are real close to the Metro Rail and there are quite a few bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Why?
Pearland is 15-20 miles from stadium
