nah...not if the kid wants back in.

Assuming the kid has some of the issues that have been rumored, give the kid a chance to stay and work on those things. Keep him off the field for a year. See if you can really help the kid. It only costs a scholarship and his upside for the future is worth it.

You mean we got better when we went to Max Johnson at QB.

at some of the stuff people make up what they feel like the season got turned around on. It had nothing to do with Gilbert leaving. Johnson was just a better QB than Finley.

Gilbert was going to put up crazy good numbers for a freshman had Brennan been around all season, he absolutely tore sh*t up those first 3 games for a freshman TE.

It was a huge downgrade to go from Gilbert to Taylor and that should be apparent to anyone who watched last season. Why do you think Taylor basically didnt play all season until Gilbert left the team?

If it's TRUE that Peetz is going after him then who the hell is any rantard to say no. Yes the kid quit on us for some reason last year and I dont like it, at least one teammate publicly asked him to come back. He was on pace to be the best TE ever at LSU, maybe the best ever, I'd much rather have him catching TDs up the seem for us than against us....just as anyone that's saying they would not want him back would cheer loud as hell as he was catching a 60 yard TD, He and Boutte would be pretty much impossible to stop, can't double them both and stop the run

He did the following within about a 4 week span:

-Flaked out at LSU
-Committed to Florida
-Un-committed to Florida

He needs to figure his life out and get himself straight. I really don't think that places needs to be LSU. Let him figure it out on someone else's dime.

He committed to UF in the portal, he never transferred there. Florida coaches were cashing checks their admissions department were bouncing.

My bad. You are right...I meant committed. Used the wrong word. My blood sugar was spiking and sometimes I get disoriented and say the wrong things...

Lmao, I know right, think of him and Boutte on the field together with whoever wins the QB battle(imagine how much of a joke that "qb battle" would have been 3-4 years ago) will be a terror for defense, especiallyon the same side,1 Safety can't help with both, they'd have to roll their coverage which would leave the backside WR all alone as well as the weak side or the "bend it back" runs

I will say the same thing I said here the week he left the team. Everything is not “character”. Sometimes it can be biological/ chemical. He’s got other things going on he’s dealing with. And I’m on his side because it’s bigger than football.

That had nothing to do with Gilbert, Gilbert is a much better player than Taylor, hence why he played in front of him all season long.

We would have been even better with Gilbert. Though I dont know if UF still throws his shoe as well as they did Taylor's.

Exactly....I NEVER liked EVERY player on my teams, every player understands that, but if they can help you win then you want them on the field, bottom line.....

At some point there has to be a line that can’t be crossed.

Quitting on your team halfway through the season would have been it for me but they gave him the opportunity to come back.

Now he chose to go play for our rival but couldn’t get his grades straight.

At some point in time you tell him to go frick hi self.

We’re LSU, he was lucky to have gotten a full ride from one of the premier programs in the country.

Don’t waste more space with him and then bring that toxicity back into the lockerroom

I keep hearing these vague references about his "issues and personal problems". I am not in favor of airing anyone's dirty laundry in public, but I would like to know the nature of his complaints.

My whole point of view is this, his absolute amazing upside especially lined up with Boutte, also, really it should come down to(if he actually tried to come back) it should be a team vote and everyone else accept it

you have your opinion, I think Gilbert was lockerroom cancer and the team played better w/o him...I'm glad he's gone

I'm not here to argue unfounded opinions, I'm arguing facts. The reason we played better is because Max Johnson was way better than TJ Finley. That's not really debatable, it also had nothing to do with Gilbert not being there. If Gilbert was there, the offense would have been even better, because Taylor was noticeably worse. Again, a fact, not an opinion. You realize you're arguing we were better off without a much better player than a much worse player, right? Literally makes no sense. There was zero indication Gilbert was a "locker room cancer" like you're claiming. The kid is extremely quiet for starters.

If you want to make that argument, I guess we can also say Terrace Marshall was a locker room cancer, we clearly played so much better without him once he quit. No different than your argument about Gilbert. Both are just bitter opinions about really good players.

He LITERALLY had the pick of the litter to ANY PREMIER PROGRAM in the country. I'm as LSU as they come, but your statement makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I've said this on every Gilbert thread.

The kid has legit issues and needs legit help. He needs to be somewhere that can provide that help and can provide him a good support system.

I don't know if an SEC-size school is the right environment for him.

I agree We Won because Max Johnson was better than Finley...NO ARGUMENT...It still doesn't change the fact I'm glad that Gilbert is gone....JMO
