Saban does not out and out cheat. He has become the best at manipulating the system or being in the vanguard. For instance he has 10 "analysts" on staff to assist in game preparation and whatever duties they are assigned. No one else is doing that. Legal? apparently so or the number was never officially set so he hires as many as he wants. Of course, the univiersity is complicit in allowing him the latitude to spend waht is needed. Some schools could not afford even a couple of analysts.

You can bet those analysts perform some levels of coaching which might not be allowed but would be hard to detect.

Saban is also tolerant of allowing law breakers to remain eligible or conveniently have suspensions for easily winnable games and be reinsstated for toughe ropponents.

You can bet he influenced the Cam Robionson / Hootie Jones farce with the Ouachita District attorney. If SAban needs them they find a way to keep them eligible and the school powers allow him unfettered authority.

Do you think the Honey Badger would have missed the 2012 season if he was at Alabama with similar circumstances. You can fault Miles for some things, but the well being of his players came first. I don't believe the same can always be said for Saban. Again, legal , yes, but pushing the envelope.

Saban uses his contacts with handlers to assist in recruiting , the " barber shop " in Amite being a prime example. Is there any illegal recruiting associated with this? Maybe, but it has been allowed. The feckless NCAA won't investigate.

Notice how recruits families from outer state suddenly relocate to the Tuscaloosa area, some from as far away as Hawaii. Legal? Guess so. Undoubtedly the dream of every Hawaiian is to leave paradise for the hills of Alabama.

Something went on at the end with the recruitment of Patrick Surtain that involved his father. It may not be readily apparent yet, and may be difficult to confirm but Surtain's heart was always with LSU despite his rhetoric on signing day. The father will receive some type of benefit which might be illegal or borderline illegal but not clearly so to warrant sanctions

Some might be sour grapes, some envy that he is allowed to get way with far more than other coaches and programs. If true, we can all hope the house of cards comes tumbling down as it has with Florida football, Louisville and North Carolina basketball among others.

is that why he excelled as a DC in the NFL with the Browns and had best D in the NFL one year? Or why he went 9-2 at TOLEDO? or succeeded at MSU taking over a team UNDER NCAA SANCTIONS? or LSU? and now BAMA? he is a great defensive coach. anyone who knows football accepts this.

you are a MORON CUBED CLOWN. educate yourself or never post here again please.

What is sad is people really believe that. These are the people you can just ignore their opinions because they're delusional

Would Saban be that successful with the 20th ranked recruiting class every year?

No one would have 5 titles in 9 years averaging a 20th ranked class. That's not some profound statement.

That many titles in that period of time is impressive no matter how you slice it. Miami only came away with 1 during their run and that was supposed to be the best squad ever.

Everyone cheats a little. Bama is on a different level. Notice how Kirby Smart learns the system, leaves and suddenly has too recruiting class year after year already.

Do you want to know what he learned at Bama? His success pretty much destroys all the bama explanations of their recruiting success

it is just a way for losers to sleep better at night. ignore the mans great coaching abilities and drive. he was successful at many stops i listed above some under sanctions, some small schools with no resources or strong pulls for reruits. heck he even had good defenses at miami. just more proof this board is saturated with too many football ignorant and willfully lazy and dishonest minds

doubt he cheated at oilers or browns or dolphins or toledo or a MSU already on sanctions.

now did he cheat at LSU? and bama? who doesn't?

You honestly think the resources at Bama have nothing to do with it? If not, how was he so mediocre before Bama?

0-4 in bowls at Michigan State
One season with under three losses at LSU
Miami....

Of course being at Bama helps because they will do anything to win. We've seen that before.

Saban got pummeled in bowl games at Michigan State, but they hadn't had a winning season in five years when he took over and got slapped with probation and scholarship reductions right before he took over, so it was an accomplishment for them to win and actually make bowl games. His last season there was one of the best they had in decades.

LSU had losing seasons in 7 out of the previous 10 years when Saban took over. Saban won the SEC and Sugar in only his 2nd year and won it all in his 4th year. His results were pretty damn good considering the circumstances.

if you re-read, I said it's likely a combination of great coaching/recruiting skills and cheating, or bending of rules, however you'd like to term it

Saban is a great coach, always has been and always will be. Dude has been successful everywhere really. Hell he wasn't the failure with the Dolphins people like to act like he was.
