The Big10 and AAC are both very respectable baseball conferences.
Sure but they aren’t the SEC and arguably a lot of the Big 10 is trash.

But as we have learned since the portal has been alive, there is no correlation to SEC performance based on previous competition. It is player-dependent. There are no statistical patterns to predict success.
I definitely agree with you, which is why we’re taking numbers and having options.

Does anyone know if Jay recruited him while he was in high school and what kind of projected draft status he had then?
Thanks!
Thanks!

He was 338 in the last BA500 for the 2025 draft. I don’t know that we recruited him in high school but he did play with one of our 2027 commits at Eastlake.

he was a freshman all American at Oregon. if that doesn't translate ,I give up on predicting this shite.

not that it matters but this makes us number 1 in portal rankings.
just in case yall dont remember last years portal class wasnt this highly thought of before the season. we missed on our targets last year and you see what that got us, every time we've gotten our first choices they've panned out pretty much. talent evaluation gets harder when your having to pick out of a group of players you didnt really want to begin with

By who? Because the rant certainly said this was JJ's most talented team ever.

they may have said the team was talented but nobody ranked that portal class number one that I can remember. if those players got you as excited as these portal players do then you just dont know much about baseball. I mean I specifically remember project telling us that Simpson was terrible against decent competition and that caraway was only on our radar because of the good postseason he had and that he wasnt great the rest of the year

I have no clue what the portal class ranked by experts. I just know the rant decided it was JJs most talented team before the first pitch.
I have 100% faith in JJ. Same amount I had last before last year. My only hope for next year is that we can get at least another solid pitcher, either for the pen or to compete to start. If not, I will have to panic a bit until I see the development. I think Schmidt will be a rock solid friday guy next year.

We have an Angel in the outfield?
Posted on 7/4/26 at 5:36 pm to Hold That Tiger 10
yeah I think with some average natural development we should be fine with what we have now but just in case we have another freak occurrence of most of our pitchers taking steps back,it would be nice to land another arm

No, Mascona and his scout buddies did

Jay Johnson said in an interview this was the best overall pitching staff he has ever had at LSU before season started. I like Jay, but made him look like a used car salesman.
