I know it was a good sign he walked off the field, but hopefully the injury is not serious. He has worked hard to get to this point in time, and has been a force on the DL.

Any body have an update on injury?

Walking off the field means nothing with a knee injury. You can tear your ACL and still walk off. The promising thing for me was him bending it and stretching it before getting up.

My guess is a meniscus tear. Hope I’m very wrong.

Yeah, some people just don’t have any luck. Dude was rounding the corner to being pretty special, but some guys just have the injury bug, just sometimes too strong for their ligaments…

If he’s out for a while, when Gaye comes back we would have primarily 3 ends that would rotate with Gaye, Ojulari, and now Smith.

If we keep a 4 man rotation at DT then Guillory steps in for Smith is the 4th guy inside. I think Guillory is ready to be in the rotation and I like what I’ve seen from him.

You could honestly see it written all over his face, I’ve seen a lot of guys get catastrophic knee injuries and it’s always accompanied by that defeated look. It’s hard to say that anything was a “good sign” because the knee still works normally with an ACL or MCL tear until it swells up and starts to hurt and that can take way more than 5 or 10 minutes. I really hope it’s not MCL or ACL and I would be devastated for him if it was, but I’d bet money that it’s one of the two

I’m still concerned that it’s his ACL. I’m hoping it’s a minor sprain. But I’m wouldn’t put money on that.

Jarell Cherry played well and set the edge nicely in the time he played last night, albeit CMU. Still think he can give productive reps.

It’s almost like you bastards want it to be a torn ligament. Let’s be optimistic here.

He said it 2x and has yet to source it.

I tore an ACL and after the initial pain stopped, I walked without a limp or pain. It was completely unstable, though,

While that is true, I would not say it means nothing. I believe he hurt his left knee. At one point the trainer tested his right knee for back too front movement. That is classic ACL protocol to gauge the movement in his good knee and then compare the bad knee. The trainer did that and then allowed him to walk off. If the trainer thought his ACL was torn he probably would not have let him walk off, even though he’d likely be able to. The reason is that everything in his knee would be strained and a collapse would be possible - not likely, but too risky to expose an important athlete.

To weigh against this, we have Orgeron’s comment, which was something to the effect that he was not expecting good news vis-à-vis Anthony.

Penrod’s analysis is right I think. I remain hopeful given the on-field test, him ambling off field, and his demeanor. Against this tho is O’s comments, which indicate something more severe. It’s hard to know how / what he was briefed. Fingers still crossed.

Edit: I had a grade two MCL tear in college after a dipshit DB wrapped me around the holder on a blocked FG in a scrimmage. Couldn’t put any weight on the leg. ACL is a different beast but it’s not as simple as “oh torn ACL you can just walk it off.” Could be sprained knee, MCL, etc.

Unless you have inside info, you’re just guessing on what you think has happened.

Quit being a bitch about someone questioning your statement.

To be fair, O just kinda word vomits every thought that jumps into his head, regardless of if it’s supported
