Burns was our last scholarship. No room for him, and I haven’t heard any legit rumors about him coming back. He made a poor choice leaving to begin with.

He made the tweet after Major Burns made his announcement. Hinting that there is more to come. And the “band back together” comment makes one think he’s talking about Gilbert and/or Hampton 2 of his teammates who are in the portal and one of which in Gilbert who has been heavily rumored to be returning. Unless there’s some tampering going on with a former LSU guy like Marcel Brooks(TCU) or Tyler Taylor(UAB) which is highly doubtful one would assume but you never know I guess.

I don't think he would have to count towards the 2021 class. He's already been an initial counter at LSU in the 2019 class.

Brooks is done at LSU. He is not eligible to transfer & play immediately anyway.

Well, Burns IS our last scholarship, but he's also NOT our last scholarship. He's our last scholarship for initial counters, but Gilbert could still be signed if he's academically eligible and we are under the number of total scholarships.
ETA - I know that's what you meant, also, but there may be that lone wolf out there who doesn't know about initial counters and total scholarships.

If somebody is signed in 1 class he doesn’t count again against your signing class again if they return, just the 85 limit.

While Gilbert never transferred, he's not a member of the team. Those are two distinctly different things. His status is the same as any player who leaves the team for whatever reason.

For NCAA purposes, he’s part of the team. You said he could still sign. There’s nothing to sign.

I didn’t know Tyler Taylor was at UAB. Glad to hear he’s back playing football. He looked really promising as a freshman. Dude could lay the wood.
