Serial assault is not simply a mistake you make when you're young that you then move on from.

I'm tired of all this WOKE attack on LSU. Can't even hit a woman these days without some blue haired libtard yankee writing about it like it's a big story. How do you know she didn't need some sense smacked into her? I applaud Verge for guiding that young man on how shite used to get done before the woke brigade turned everyone soft

The player was kicked off the team. Arrested. And went to jail.

I don’t see anything about rape with Davis; looks like arguments with girlfriend that got physical, and then being sent a weird video of a kid getting his pecker stuck in a fan blade that was labeled CSAM.

ETA: not quite quick enough on the edit

It is for this situation that Ausberry should not be considered for the LSU AD position. At a nationally known university like LSU, character issues for which Ausberry was suspended should disqualify him for a senior leadership position.

IMO, his employment should have been terminated for cause over his Title IX failure.

It is hard to believe that state, university, alumni leadership turns a blind eye to this. The personal values many of us learned growing up are being ignored. Sad!!

Why is USA Today coming after a successful black man? I think it’s sad and too predictable that the moment a black man gets a position of authority, the media comes after him

I’m not saying what Verge did was right ,it wasn’t, but every program in the south has covered up this kind of behavior.NS had players caught with guns and weed in their car and nothing happened.Does anybody think multibillion dollar corps don’t hide things about their upper management they don’t want public. No program will do anything that may cause them to lose, hence coverups.Look at some of the recruits and where they come from and tell me they are salt of the earth.

A coverup is always bad

A coverup when it’s one of your own female athletes getting beaten is far far worse

Isn’t DD his godson? I can understand wanting to make it a family and team matter instead of getting the law involved.

Getting the cops involved is the last thing you want to do when trying to correct someone’s unacceptable behavior.

you rantards need to decide, you were mad at fat scott for firing WW for bad press and violating Rules, but now you are mad because USA today is hurting your feelings because fat Verge broke rules. Are we following rules or not? Do we give a flying fuq what USA today thinks?

I don’t care about paying players

I care about men beating women and those in charge trying to cover it up

The USA Today doesn’t need to tell me whether or not abusing women is acceptable

He called drake davis immediately and was told that he didnt hit her and the event was self defense.

That’s Verge’s story. Well, sort of. This is what the Husch Blackwell report actually says:
quote:

In an interview with The Advocate newspaper, Ausberry said that "when he confronted Davis about his text, Davis assured him he had not hit his girlfriend, saying they were simply arguing about her refusing to leave." That assertion is not credible as Davis explicitly says in the text exchange that "I hit her in the stomach" and acknowledges this "is not good."

We don’t really know what Davis told Verge on the phone. But at best, it’s a scenario where a player sent a text saying he had hit her, Verge immediately called him, the player said “well no I actually didn’t hit her,” and Verge moved on.

The girl didnt even report it.

She did report it a few weeks later.

Verge is not a bad person, he got caught in a weird circumstance… was investigated and subsequently cleared.

I don’t think Verge is a bad person. I think he cares a lot about LSU.

I also think he was part of a “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” culture, as a high level administrator who had already been here for 18 years.

As to being investigated and “subsequently cleared,” I don’t think that’s entirely accurate. The Husch Blackwell report was extremely critical of him and recommended disciplinary action. However, both Husch Blackwell and the previous external Title IX review basically came to the conclusion that “your entire organization is so bad at Title IX compliance, it’s hard to single anyone out.”

Does any of this mean he can’t be a highly effective AD? No. But it is real baggage, and the negative press is predictable.
