Florida is very good and Syracuse pushed Clemson to the wall. I would call those quality wins. MSU has gotten better.

The team on the field last night is not the same as the one that beat Florida. I know we have some injuries but everyone does. Arkansas beat us at home worse than Bama did on the road. Let that sink in!

We have lost so much offensive talent to the NFL lately and now we finally have it back. But...now we don't have the traditional deep OL/DL to keep us in games.

True. On the defensive side, only one of our DLinemen would see the field for the Gumps.

Your view may be objective but I don't agree with it. I had higher expectations and frankly, thought we could beat every team on our schedule but Bama.

What I didn't expect was being manhandled at home at night by a middle of the road Arkansas team. We'll end up losing 3 to 5 games again. It's a huge disappointment.

You can thank the previous d coor and d line coach for that. Will take coach O this recruiting class to fix it

Its going to take 2 good recruiting classes to replace the deficiencies in the OL and DL.

He got a few last year, he'll get help this year that will make next year manageable. The starters just need some relief.

From a distance, were we ever "that good"? Top 4, deserving of a playoff bid?

No.
Game 1, tight win at Miss St, gave up 300 yds and had a chance to lose on a 50 yd FG. They missed, we won. We rode Fournette hard and had a good rushing game. Defense wore out in the 4th quarter.

Non-conference games- we were favored in the preseason in all, we won as we should. Fournette able to run wild against weak teams; like any top SEC back should. Defense made every opposing QB look very good.

Auburn- they were highly ranked. We mangled them, and got a lot of love. But Auburn has not been the team people thought they were, in the preseason.

Florida- a decent team, going to win the SEC East. We won at their place last season, should have won here... and we did. They lost their QB the week of the game, and his replacement led the Gators to 28 points. They've since had trouble scoring against anyone.

South Carolina- team in decline, coach on the way out (who quit after our game), uprooted from their home to play here. We won, their backup QB had a good game, Fournette had to work to get his yards. Oh, and our fanbase was nonchalant about attending a bonus home game; people had "plans".

This got us to 7-0, but nothing indicated that we were ever anything other than a good, top-20 caliber team. We had one win over another team in that class (MSU), and that was hard-fought and we had to hang on by our fingernails. The Auburn game was a mirage, they suck instead of being a top 5 team.

We got overwhelmed against Bama, managed to put up a little bit of a fight in the first half, but got knocked out in the second. Our weak defense was exploited by a better team, and our running game (which was media-sensationalized, for pounding scrubs) was stuffed by a highly motivated and very good (and proud) defense playing at home. And during this, our fanbase turned on the team and program (again). People whining that Miles cost Fournette the Heisman (forgetting that if he was, as advertised, the second coming of Bo and Herschel, he should have broken tackles and took over the game). Fans also went ballistic that our first year QB wasn't directed to air it out and pass the team to victory, something he hasn't done this season, and has only managed to do once (against a cupcake at home last year, New Mexico St).

So then we get Arkansas, a team we think we should have beat. But Arkansas is a different team than we are... they have a huge offensive line and an established running game, they have a senior QB having a great season, and most importantly, they have an atmosphere that is focused on long-term improvement around the program, not one that goes apeshit over single games. They had some rough losses earlier in the season, but did not collapse and sabatoge everything remotely related to the program. They kept playing, and have gotten a lot better, and have won some good games recently.

So now our team, which at 7-2 is still having a better season than lots of teams (including in the SEC, outside of Bama and Florida, whose one loss was against us), has now a big problem. The negative fanbase has been enough to prompt reactions from the players, and apparently is affecting the coaches to some extent (if it's true that Miles commented on the crowd). It seems that the fair weather fans are making an impact on the program; the attitude that if you can't win all the games, you are awful and not worth supporting.

This is a young, good team. Someone commented that "they always say they're young", but it's true in this case. We have 2 true sophomores on offense, at QB, RB and WR, that are developing. We have all three back next season, and unless the team develops a case of "frick this shite", they will all be much better. We just hired 2 topflight recruiters, and should be able to bring in more needed talent and depth... unless the environment becomes so toxic that nobody wants to come play here.

I still support my Tigers

Right. What was last year's excuse. We were too old? That's a bullshite excuse. The line oline is not without veterans. Hawkins, Alexander, Pocic. White at corner isn'the young. Fournette is an experienced player. Harris is way more experienced than many QB's who are playing well across the country. Adams is experienced now, All of the linebackers are experienced. It's a bullshite excuse.

Jim Harbaugh? Name five teams in the country that have better skill players than the LSU Tigers?

That's a misnomer. Remove Fournette from the equation, and there are lots of teams with QBs and WRs who are just as talented, more experienced, more consistent. Regarding Fournette, consider this- the game has gone away from the tailback-focused offenses. it's been awhile since the Heisman has been anything but QB driven. It's been a long time since you wanted to draft a top RB before a top (or even mid-upper level) QB. You can get by just fine with good RBs, you don't need a Fournette or injury-free Gurley.

A better question is name the teams that have better linemen than LSU. That list gets significantly longer than the skill position question, and makes a big difference.

Believe me, 8-5 is way better than 2-9.
Not much difference between the two.

If you're not in First, you might as well be in Last! What's the difference? It's all in the perception.

8-5 will get you to some BS minor Bowl Game that nobody cares about except for all the Program Worshippers. That's not what we're after any longer.

Too much going for LSU to consistently NOT Max out the potential........

I'm sorry, but these are 2014 excuses. You need to download the 2015 version. Also, 2016 will be out soon.

something has happened to or on this team and it ain't good. your OL doesn't just go bad overnight

I agree... the O line was very good early in season. They competed well against talented Florida D line. Bama's D line wasn't THAT much better, not to the degree of what we witnessed. Almost like, Bama took their pride & our O line has not found it again. Our defense isn't such that it can carry the whole team, as it was a few years ago. I lay it all on the sudden poor performance of the O line. Question is why? There is talent there... they need to be coached up. They have to show up every game, no matter being 7-0 w/Heisman hopeful in backfield. It still takes effort, they haven't had much effort last 2 games.

Seriously, did any of us truly believe we were that good?

This team is loaded. Absolutely loaded. Minus depth on the DL, I like our team up against anyone. Fact of the matter is there are other coaches out there who could do significantly better with the talent on this current roster. I appreciate the last decade or so, and think Miles is a great man. But we've all watched bone head calls, clock management issues, et etc for long enough. The Arkansas and Bama game were not eye opening. They were the straw that broke the camel's back. It's just time, unfortunately. He will have 2016 to prove something, but I firmly believe the fans have given up on him now.

The most surprising, and disappointing, aspect of LSU's play the past two weeks to me has been how poorly Vadal Alexander and Jerald Hawkins have looked. They have not been able to secure and protect the edge in pass protection at all, and they have not been moving people in run blocking.

The fact that we had WRs tweeting "Let harris free" and Dupre basically saying he regretted coming to LSU because we hand it off 30 times a game is all I needed to see. This team is not on the same page. That starts at the top IMO.

I always laugh when people talk about "remember the Dinardo years". People forget that Dinardo had good teams up until his final season. That last season, when our offense was awesome but, the defense was worst in the league, is what did him in. But, I enjoyed the Dinardo years myself. During his time here we were.......

6-4-1 (this after Curley Hallman years)
10-2
9-3
4-7

AND...........................he was 3-0 in bowl games. It can be argued had he not been so stubborn to keep Tepper as his defensive coordinator he c

Exactly. People who say that are just too young to realize that Dinardo brought this program back. Remember the Curly years. And guys, the Curly years wasnt a decade it was only a few years. It was also the worst case scenario. Time for a change
