Brennan can throw a 50 yard pass in the air.

The farthest Max can sling it is 20 yards on a good day.

Neither guy is elite and neither will be LSU's starter next season.

I tend to disagree....I figure we would have won 7-8 games with Brennan this year

Having Brennan doesn't make the OLine better. Having Brennan doesn't give us a running game. And having Brennan doesn't make the defense any better.

Having Brennan also doesn't make Peetz have any better play calling.

He would've been a statue in the pocket.

meh; depends on what offense the new coach is looking to run. If he wants at least a semi-mobile QB, it would have been hard to see Brennan beat out Nuss under a new regime.

If he can stay healthy, he could be a diamond in the rough for an offensive mind/scheme like Mike Leach runs, not necessarily MSU but a team of that caliber. I'm not sold on MB's ability to pre-read and feel the rush, but the right style of air raid basketball on grass, he could shine with that cannon. Good luck #15.

Smart move by Brennan, IMO. He can go to a school with crappy QB and take over immediately. Watch him kick our arse at Bama next year

He has been screwed here

No he hasn't.

In 2017 he got a chance to play several signficant snaps in meaningful spots (most notably against Troy and Syracuse). Understandably for a true freshman his performance was inconsistent. Some really good plays coupled with some poor decisions.

In 2018 he went into the spring as the presumptive starter. At the end of spring practice it was clear the coaching staff had concerns about him being the starting QB in the fall. Otherwise, three months before the season was to begin, LSU would not have tried hard to recruit a transfer from OSU, who to that point had played ZERO significant snaps in his college career, to come in and be their starting QB. Burrow had LESS experience than Brennan. And if you think LSU recruited Burrow just to come in and "compete" for the job I have some ocean front property in Colorado to sell you. Burrow did not choose to leave OSU just to go "compete" for a starting job at another school. He was looking to go somewhere he knew he would be the starter, immediately. That is the benefit of being a transfer. You get recruited all over again and get to pick your spot. LSU was that place...because the staff wasn't confident Brennan was the guy.

He then sat behind Burrow for two years because, frankly, Burrow was much, much better. There was no reason to "alternate" QBs when Burrow was there. Could LSU have played Brennan a bit more in blowouts during the 2019 season? Possibly. But how much significant experience is a guy going to get mostly just handing the ball off in ZERO stress situations?

In 2020 he, unfortunately, had bad luck in that he suffered what would be a season ending injury during what was his best individual game in an LSU uniform. It was the first game where he really started to look comfortable. That forced the true freshman, who weren't expected to play much, to gain a lot of valuable experience in meaningful games.

That meant going into 2021 it was reasonable for the coaching staff to have open competition for the QB job given that Brennan had LESS starting experience that Finley and only one more game of experience than Johnson. Was Brennan going to be the starter if he didn't break his arm right before camp? Who knows?

In 2017 the staff went with the more experienced player en route to a 9-3 season. In 2018 and 2019 LSU simply had a better QB on the roster. In 2020 and 2021 injuries limited his opportunities to play. But NONE of the above means he was "screwed".

If anything, Brennan can leave with his LSU legacy secured as the best QB with a 1-2 career record as a starter to ever play at LSU. He avoided playing enough to eventually be torn down by the fans.

This is not a guarantee and I'd say that he isn't even the favorite to win the job as Max has played pretty well and Nuss is a dog.

He wants to play football so he can have a shot at the NFL and that's not a guarantee here so he has to move on and find PT somewhere else.

I thought he would have just as good of a chance to win the starting job here next year as at any other major program. There will be competition everywhere.

Brennan is transferring because he knows he isnt the best QB on the roster. If he had confidence and an alpha type personality he would stay and compete. Hot sure why some cant understand he is not an SEC caliber QB

Neither is Max

Well, a new coach may think Brennan or Nuss may be the top dog. So……..
