Last year’s group was crazy talented but they underperformed, especially in the run game. Agree with your take that we’re gonna be fine and maybe even (as a unit) better or at least more consistent this year

Why do we start every season against great teams? Kelly has lost every opening game. What happened to the days of opening the season against Rice or another cupcake team. I guess making money is more important than winning. Playing at Clemson to start is a very difficult game.

No, you are not.

Here’s why:

Alex Atkins - New TE Coach Former OL / OC for Florida State
He has already brought a new toughness to the TE’s and OL.

None of the 5 O-linemen have played together, which means they will take time to gel. This doesn't happen until a few games into the season no matter how talented they are.

Reminder: We play one of the best D-lines in the country in the 1st game.

Great RB’s can make an Oline look really good.

FALSE. Great RBs still will have trouble running through brick walls. Ask S. Barkley when he was on the Giants. Look at how well he did in Philly.

There is some really talented guys on this Oline. It’s just a matter of getting them all to gel as one.

Which is why 90% of the people worried think this is our weakest link.

Last year's Oline did not perform up to expectations

Brother, what? They gave up 10 Sacks all season with 6 coming in one game due to injuries.

Yall need to start being real with your expectations. Dudes had such a good year they ended up with 4 guys getting drafted. That wasn't a mistake.

It isn't hard to believe that you can excel in pass blocking and not be a very good run blocking team...skills are different.

We’ve recruited well. I remember the coaches saying last season that working with the young oline was a priority to get them ready for this upcoming season.

IMHO it's the only position group where we won't be without question better than last year. But with time it could get there an may end up a better run blocking OL.

Brian Kelly is the best OL coach in the country the last 30 years. I trust they will be ready

Big brand games are great for recruiting and gets LSU in the spotlight. Yes playing difficult games off the bat every year is difficult but each preseason when ppl talked about their most anticipated week 1 games LSU is almost always on the list. Brand exposure matters a ton to the AD.

I hope Nuss is ready to step up and cover up o line inefficiencies. Aka scramble a little, throw it away instead of forcing it into coverage and take ugly sacks occasionally.

Considering how thrown together that group was with new guys and others playing new positions, they were solid.

People here are prisoners of the moment. Yes, the OL was a disappointment last season, and Davis has to wear that. However, people forget that he actually did a good job of taking what was a very rag tag group in 22 with 1 returning starter, 1 little used reserve, a transfer and 2 true freshmen and had them playing well by the end of that season and improving over year two in 23.

Considering what we saw in the bowl game and what Davis did with our previous OL group when they were first starting out, maybe he can get this new group to gel quickly. If so, then he has to figure out how to develop them further, because THAT is where he didn’t get it done last year.

This is the key. Nuss can mask some o-line deficiencies.

This year will show just how good our OL coach is in developing good o linemen. I am not optimistic, but hopeful.

Too bad we start out on the road against one of the top d lines in the country. It feel like we could really use a Southeastern type of opener this year.

That will be the key how quickly do the gel and have to learn both pass/run block. Hopefully Atkins from FSU helps Brandt coach them up as Brad is a good recruiter but verdict is out on actual coaching still

I think this OL will be just fine and will almost certainly run block better.

Teeing it up against Clemson at Clemson is a tall order for a young line.

WHAT!? I have every single offensive group worse than last year. Oline is the catalyst, I don't think Nuss will be worse, but WRs, TEs, RBs, and Oline are, so what's he going to do?
