What negative connotations? Honkey? The only thing negative about it is that announcers won’t be able to say it on the air and it’s got limited usability because of that. It’s technically a slur but no white people with testicles actually give a shite.

Maybe you also can say “he doesn’t play anything like TM” but no one gives a shite about that. He’s a gamechanger and that’s all we need for the nickname.

Using the word honkey in a nickname is original. How many nicknames have used honkey? You’d have a case if it was “White Honey Badger” which is just lazy…

It's more than just the one (spectacular) block and INT. It's how he plays and is seemingly in on every defensive tackle.

I remember Mathieu's coming out party at aTm when he was a freshman. After that game people started talking him up and never stopped until he left campus. At that time, he also didn't have a long history of being the Badger, but that didn't prevent people from recognizing the potential and determination he brought to every play.

I think people are now seeing a similar early-career performance from Weeks, and are excited for the future because they (think) they've seen this movie before. Hell, I even saw where TM7 himself said the exact same thing.

So, yeah, let the fans have their fun. If Weeks falls on his face in subsequent games then the talk will disappear. But for now, it's fun to have a couple of dogs on defense that actually get people excited (which was not what anyone expected at the start of this year).

Whit Weeks is not an optimal name for a defensive thug. He needs to legally change his name for the sake of the team.
