While Alleva deserves criticism for that nonsense, we don't know what kind of pressure he was getting from administrators and donors in the middle of the firestorm. The university's relationship with the Durham community has traditionally been tense as well.
Yeah, he sucks at PR, but he's also a good fundraiser and the athletic department as a whole has thrived since he arrived. I don't think he's scaring any good coaching candidates away from LSU.

He is of low character, the success of the athletic dept is not to his credit.

Did the scumbag or anybody from Duke ever come out and apologize or try to make amends to the players and coach after the trashy b*tch's complaints were exposed as a complete hoax and bunch of lies? I don't recall anything but may be wrong. Alleva proved then and since that he will cave and hightail it to the quickest easy exit to avoid any real or fake news pressure. LSU never should have looked at him, much less hire him.

Honestly, who should get credit then?
During his tenure, our GSR is the highest it has ever been and our average point total in the Director's Cup standings is over 100 points higher than it was previously. We've also continued to avoid any type of major scandal.

No doubt, he's a pushover. I'm not a big fan of the guy.
Objectively, he's still been a good administrator for us; he makes money and F King and the BOS seem to be pleased with his overall work.
We'll see how the basketball hire goes, but he's hitched his wagon to the hire of Coach O. If that works out then he's likely here for the foreseeable future. If not, then we can complain about the next AD.

It was such a "hoax and bunch of lies" that 10 years after the fact NONE of the ACCUSED agreed to talk to ESPN in a documentary that was SUPPORTING them?
I think JA did the right thing...at the time he did it.

It was the first f'ing clue he was going to be a disaster, but Alleva is a disaster because he's Alleva. He's so indecisive that if he makes a good hire, or good move, it's an accident..
