I hate alleva as much as the next guy, but does anyone think he is letting Johnny finish this abomination out just to show Dale/Collis/etc. how bad they screwed up?

Its gunna be pretty hard for those guys to come in with a recommendation for the next coach when we finish dead last in the SEC

Alleva is deathly afraid to fire a coach early again. The lack of a search for a football coach showed him to be an emotional amateur. He'll fire Johnny at the end and then actually have a search for a coach.

Pretty sure he has the balls. He stood up to Sankey and Foley. He played college football as a starting QB-Team Captain and college baseball. He has a BA and MBA from Lehigh which is a fine academic institution so I'm pretty sure he has the smarts.

While I don't think Alleva is a great fit for LSU in terms of personality and public relations, he knows his job.

Certainly he's brighter than the dolts who post here.

This, I really think he was hoping against hope for a late season surge that showed CJJ had managed to get the team back after last year's implosion of leadership.

Arkansas, coming in reeling and struggling provided a great opportunity for that and the second half collapse IMHO showed it is not in the cards. He's going to have to do the inevitable.

And the end result was a net loss of a home game. Yeah, he really knows how to play hard ball.

I don't think this is the issue at all. The in-season fire of Miles was not an unpopular move. I know I was happy at that time. I just think JA sucks at hiring coaches. I think that the Coach O hire has a chance to work out and I hope it does, but it won't be because of JA's skills. He completely shite the bed on "The Search" and Coach O fell into his lap. He's holding off on a CJJ for 1 of 2 reasons - 1) he's lazy or 2) he's incompetent. It's probably a little of both.

Yes. The message he's sending is "I suck at hiring basketball coaches."

Nah that isn't it at all and you're giving Alleva too much credit. He's just too big of a pussy to actually fire JJ

Don't do him a favor and set the bar too low. He will fire Jones, the question is whether or not he can conduct a competent search and make a great hire. All prior evidence says he can't.

No he did not. Standing up to them would have been:

1. The game moves the week it was scheduled or it isn't played
2. We shift the future schedules so it isn't back to back in Gainesville.

He fricked that one up as bad as Guice fricked up the actual game.

Fire Johnny Jones early? For what? This team is going nowhere. To put an interim coach in charge will accomplish absolutely nothing. In addition, who the Hell would want to be interim coach over this disaster that is LSU Basketball right now?

LSU is not only poorly coached but has marginal talent and the players have quit. WTF is the point of changing anything until this joke of a season is over?

Johnny Jones created this miserable situation so let him ride it out. Pathetic.

He stood up to Stankey and Foley? Check the end results again. LSU LOST a home game this year and Two years from now. What did Florida lose? A game that they themselves could have played at home but cancelled instead along with another gimme game. ALL their fault. They did it to themselves and screwed LSU at the same time.
Standing up would be demanding that Florida play the game as scheduled since it was obviously safe to do so at the time, or FORFEIT.
What Alleva did was anything but stand up. In fact, it was more like bending over.

You know how some people will rub their dog's nose in their own urine if they piss in the house to "teach it a lesson"? Well, this is Alleva rubbing Dale's and Collis' collective noses in their own urine for pissing in the PMAC.

I honestly don't think we can rule out laziness given his last two big hires.

IMHO used Trent leaving late in the process as an excuse to bow to pressure from the Dale mafia on CJJ and not really conduct a real search process and I think he took a similarly minimum effort process in picking O. As you I'm hopeful that works out.

But if that's not laziness it I believe at the very least is doing the bare minimum, 15 pieces of flair.

If you notice all the hires over the past few years has been about how to save money. Not firing Miles last year, Jones, steel, Orgeron, even the Joseph hire. Should I mention the ban director, the live tiger?

The main issue is F king. However, he isn't in the public eye so he doesn't get as much of the criticism. He has even demanded the athletic side increase their "Donations" to the academic side. He's stated a football coach should not make as much as the president.

He is running the program like Joe dean. All based on conserving money. Not on investing into the program. We are now getting Joe dean results as well. Profitable athletic budget with a lack of excellence in athletics.

I guess you could say we are becoming a gymnastics and softball school.

Why would he want to fire him before the end of the season? He won't be able to hire a coach till the end of the season. He he was fired before the end of the season it would only cost more, no benifit.
