Can you clarify what you mean here?
I think most of us were thinking that if the Dixon thing doesn't work out that most of us would be pretty happy/content with pastner.

Alleva is most likely in Atlanta working out details.

Can you clarify what you mean here?
he worded it weird but i think he was saying "if they want pastner they have him because he wants the job. only way they dont get pastner is if lsu says no".
which is different from what i heard but i dont really have any sources.

I'm hoping Alleva wants to make this hire because HE wants to. The fans should have a voice but they shouldn't be running the program. If the fans had their way we would keep a coach employed on a week to week basis.

It's not that they don't want him, it's that Dixon is the guy they're focused on right now. If they don't get a deal with him, which I'm told will kick in at around $2.2-2.3 million, then Pastner will practically beat down the door to get the job.
And Alleva does NOT want to hire Johnny Jones. He interviewed him, and it went fine, but Alleva is in no position right now to make such a reach of a hire and he knows it.

That is what I've gathered based on talking to a couple folks I trust.
I really don't think this thing will get beyond Pastner. They'd have to string him out and lowball him not to hire him, and I can't see that happening.
What I don't have a good line on is what the hook is for Dixon to be interested in us. The wife is from Lake Charles and I'm told she went to LSU, though I haven't confirmed that. But I don't know what his connection here might be. Not that it particularly matters; Trent had never heard of Louisiana and he took the job.

I would think at this point (meeting in Atlanta, money already discussed, etc) that it's not just a casual meeting... Are they hoping that the deal is almost cemented or are they going there to make their case and see what happens?

I can't imagine that Pitt would let Dixon use one of their private jets to go interview with another school. He'd have been flying commercial, for sure.
