LSU will hopefully end up 35-21.

This is where midweek games actually matter.

If LSU won a few midweek games instead of dicking off they could have as good of a record as 40-16. Before you say that’s not possible LSU went all of 2012 and 2013 without losing a midweek game.

40-16 (18-12) and we’re talking about hosting a super regional with a good trip to Hoover.

If LSU wins tomorrow and Tuesday, I do believe that they host. What makes me nervous is the number of losses LSU has as well as the fact that they would be the 5th SEC host site. While the committee has awarded more than 4 host sites to one conference before, they tend to try to spread the wealth and the geography unless the teams in questions are just that much more deserving. LSU had 39 wins last season and the committee screwed them mightily by sending them all the way to Corvallis as the #2 seed.

I like the way they are playing this week and I like the potential, but I would feel a lot better if they could get to at least 35 wins, preferably 36.

LSU had an RPI somewhere around the mid 30's in 2011, and missed the tournament completely.

We were also 13-17 in the SEC. Huge difference

The committee has routinely awarded the SEC 5-6 host sites every year.

In the 20 year super regional era this is the first year that there will be four teams with 20 or more sec wins. Don’t know if there ever was four teams in the Skip era.

Ironic that a poor road record means you go on the road, isn’t it?

And what does that have to do with looking at lsu as a host site?

I hear what you are saying , but there just arent 16 teams that are going to have anywhere close to the resume of lsu if we win today

Magic number is 37 more than 18. No team has ever hosted with less than 37 wins. We need today plus 2 in Hoover to get to 37!

Pretty sure it's happened before.

That LSU team also went 13-17 in SEC play that year (they were 4-14 after the first 6 weeks of SEC play) and missed out on the conference tournament. Even though they posted some good wins, like a sweep of Fullerton State, they weren't worthy of the tourney.

Don’t know about 37 wins, but I do know in 2016 7 (yes 7) teams had an 18-12 record or better and every one of them hosted a regional. LSU got a national seed with 19 regular season wins.

Different year. 4 SEC teams have better records than LSU & will host at least 1round.

That’s 1/4 of the available seeds.

Question is will the Committee go to 5/16 for the SEC?

What’s unique this year is only 5 SEC have a “chance” at hosting because it’s so top heavy. LSU is that fifth team.

Texas A&M could be that sixth team if they win today and make a run in the SEC tournament.

The SEC RPI is very strong this year. A significant gap between the SEC and number 2. A LOT of emphasis will be put on conference record. Mainieri knows this, that’s how we got a La Tech blowout. I think the SEC gets at least 5 hosts this year, if not more.

Hope you are right. Would hate the see a screwing that sends LSU somewhere out west.
