This should not be an excuse for why LSU did use their best pitcher in game one.

Now LSU is in the worst position possible. In the losers bracket without a win.

Starting Poche was a good decision.

He pitched fine until he decided he couldn't throw to 1st.

TCU 10
LSU 3

Best pitcher on the team sitting on the bench. Clearly, it was the wrong decision.

Cpm was correct in starting Poche. It worked until he went full retard on throws to first. That got in his head and he fell apart.

No it really wasnt....not in this tournament.

If they beat Lange then so be it, but we knew Poche could blow up and throw meat balls and give runs away. The only difference today was that he did it when throwing to firSt instead of home.

What today was was Maineri trying to show everyone how smart he is...period.

Bottom line your best pitcher always starts the 1st game in this tournament.....every other team did this including Vandy who,is facing the weakest offense in the field.

Starting Poche today was an egregious error.

The pitcher made the errors.

Would Lange have made two throwing errors to first?

Lange would've had to pitch a shutout to win this game it winning with the offense only scoring 1 run. TCU's starting pitcher could've easily gone the distance.

Would you assume that any of LSU's pitchers would make back to back bad throws to first? No you wouldn't. Sometimes shite happens. You can't say Lange should have started because Poche lost the game with 2 throwing errors. Poche had zero throwing errors to first before this game.

That is a valid point although not what is being debated here.

I understand and almost agree with the argument to start Lange in this game, but to call this an egregious error is beyond stupid. Again no-one seemed to complain about it when he announced it before the game.

In my humble opinion, the maturity and consistency of this pitching staff has been a liability all season. The coaching staff is in a difficult spot of having to take some gambles in order to go as far as possible. Today it didn't work out so well, but not because of Poche's pitching. How the hell are they to know that today he would make such a ridiculous throw to first and not be able to fully recover. If that ends up as a routine throw and out at first, this could be a completely different game.

Poche was cruising until his two errors. Can't count on that.. Yall act like hasn't been out #1 guy all season long..

Regardless both guys have to pitch. Lange wins Tuesday.. You can't say Poche wouldn't have lost Tuesday.. We would still be 1-1.

At least now we have something to look forward to

I did.

How many times in Skip's day did we all hear that throwing off in the regional is fine but you always throw your best in the CWS.

Again...starting Poche today was absolutely the wrong call and was simply a case of a coach trying to show his smarts....that's it

No it wasn't.. CPM didn't learn anything after his last trip on 2013. He made the exact same move then and pitchdd Cody Glenn in game one. How did that work out for us?

Winning today is way more important than winning a winner's bracket game on Tuesday.

Any decent coach knows you throw your best pitcher in game 1. No excuses, PM made a bad decision and it cost us.

Do we save Lange for game 3 in case we win Tuesday?
