I always thought Breg would be a career 2nd baseman in the big leagues.
Thought his game fit that perfectly, especially on a team with an established SS.

He was among the first reassigned to minor league camp a few days ago, he's just up for the day most likely.

i think he could be traded too, eventually for the #1 ace the Astros lack at the moment

Dallas Keuchel won the AL Cy Young last year. If one of the 1st basemen don't step up they could go that route. You can never have enough pitching tho so that is a safe bet.

He's what we call a "non-roster invitee" in Spring Training. The 40-man roster includes 15 minor league players available for call up when needed, and last time I checked the Astros only have 39 guys on the 40-man, but I seriously doubt Bregman will that 40th guy this season. Next season? Not a bad chance. But not this season. Like others have mentioned, there isn't a huge need in the infield right now, especially at shortstop.
Now whether or not he has a future with the Astros in spite of Correa is up to position changes, but that shouldn't be a worry until 2017. Maybe. Another poster brought up the option of trade baiting him away in light of a playoff run, which despite my Bregman/Astros fandom, is a real possibility. Long story short don't expect him in an Astros uniform in 2016.

ou will see him at 3rd or 2nd (if Altuve commands $$ that the Stros don't have) before you see him at SS and Correa moved.

You really gonna say that about the defending AL Cy Young winner? dumbass

that would work if the Astros did not have Former batting champ that will only be 26 this year at second base.

I don't see this happening. Houston is the perfect place for a team to Market Jose Altuve. I could easily see him being a lifer or at least I really hope so.

Nobody is trading a #1 MLB starter for Alex Bregman.
A bad team with a guy that will be a free agent at the end of the year would.

He would be included in a package for a top starter at the trade deadline.
Posted on 3/15/16 at 3:45 pm to geauxtigers33
Maybe Bregman and 3 more of their top prospects but nobody is trading an ace for 1 prospect that has never played above A ball.
Posted on 3/15/16 at 3:50 pm to Lester Earl
Bregman isn't fetching a #1 back in a trade.
Posted on 3/15/16 at 3:54 pm to HoustonGumbeauxGuy
He is on the 40 man roster. Teams have a few cuts to make. He will stay wth the big league team until he is sent to a location, they will send him based on how important they see him in the organization.

By the trade deadline he will have a lot of double AA experience and I never said it would only be Bregman for a player. He would be a package deal with a veteran player and be the player to be named later in that deal. It doesn't need to be an ace either It could be a top end reliever or a first basemen which seems to be their big question mark going into the season.
They would be trading with a bad team that is looking towards the future and Bregman has the makings of an everyday starter for 10 years in the big leagues somewhere in the infield.

Bergman will be dealt sooner than later.
