Alabama Weaknesses

I think it is foolish to believe that Alabama is going to take LSU lightly next weekend. They will be prepared and they will come with the right mindset. This game is going to be man versus man, and that’s the way it should be.
So, the question is what weaknesses can LSU exploit? For example, has Tua truly been tested in the secondary? Fromm was considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in the country until we exposed him. If we shake his confidence early, we might be able to “turn the Tide” on the passing game and force Bama to use the ground game more. The question then becomes can we shut down Bama’s running backs?

Defensive secondary, if we have any shot of beating them we will have to throw the ball alot.

They have quality RBs and a quality offensive line. They aren't Heisman caliber backs but they're very capable. Offensively there really isn't a glaring weakness. Thankfully we're stout on defense and specifically very strong in the secondary. We will have to play smart and physical to shut down or even slow down their offense. I'm confident Aranda will create some confusion and pressure. Will it be enough? We'll see.
Defensively they're very good up front. If there is a weakness to exploit it's in their young but talented secondary. Our interior linemen will have to control Williams in the run game and we'll have to give Burrow time on passing downs to keep drives moving.

Agreed! I hope we complete torch Savion Smith anytime he is on the field.

They don’t have a great kicking game and their secondary is inexperienced. That’s about it.
Our game plan should be extremely similar to the 2012 game - minus all the trick plays. We have to be able to hit passes down the field to extend drives, while still playing a ball control offense. Defensively, field goals are wins.

Their secondary is the worst thing about their team, but it’s still talented group. The offense needs to be as unpredictable and aggressive as they have been all season. Throwing the ball on 1st down and putting Burrow in 3rd and short situations.
The defense will need to play the best run defense of the season without their best linebacker. Michael Divinity and the DL will need to generate pressure and make Tua have to get rid of the ball faster. I have confidence in our secondary to be all over Bama’s receivers and force tough catches/throws.
Being honest i think we have to score atleast 28 to win. Tua will make plays even if he has his worst game.

Savion is having a great year but I hope we show why he wasn’t a starter for LSU.

If any its defense, specifically secondary. We hit a few passes that'll open it up for Joe and CEH/Brosette to gash them.

I think Bama’s biggest fear is the Tua hasn’t done this yet, other than the second half of the NCG. Even in that game, he showed a few questionable decisions under pressure (the horrible sack he took in OT almost cost them the game before the blown coverage on next play).
CFB has seen plenty of players excel against everyone else, then yield to a bad matchup (LF7 to Bama, Manziel vs LSU, etc). How will Tua fare vs LSU’s D when his receivers aren’t running uncovered all over the field?
Their weakness, if they have one, will be Tua’s inexperience in fitting throws into tight windows under pressure.

Bama's secondary
LSU has already faced better defenses. They should be able to score.
Also LSU'S cover guys are more talented than anyone bama has faced this year. Tua isn't going to be able to just throw it up and his guy come down with it. I expect him to throw a couple of interceptions. These need to be pick sixes.
This may come down to the kicker.

This will be a tough game to win. My reason is because the Bama starters have not played a 4 quarter game yet this season, so their entire starting line up on both sides of the ball will be fresh while our boys have been in battle after battle this season. This could play in our favor if it’s close towards the end of the game because LSU knows how to finish, and Bama has not had to bring it for 4 quarters. If we can put up at least 27 points i think that’s enough to win, and i think they can do it.

Haven’t played 4 quarters yet. Ball control offense, keep Tua on the sideline, drag them into deep water and see what happens late. Get a break or two and win the game.

Their pass protection was shaky to start the year, has improved but isn't up to their usual standards. We have to use deceit and misdirection; we have to have them thinking instead of reacting.
- Tua makes up for a lot of it with feet AND accuracy
Their LBs, uncharacteristically, are hesitant with their reads. If we confuse them enough, it will help make space to get some ground game going. I think we'll need to be 'schizophrenic'. By that I mean back and forth between slow and pounding the ground, to HUNH and deeper routes. Most of the game anyway. Kinda on the extremes is one way to explain it.
Saban, because of Tua and those WRs (both), has been taking more risks on defense this year. There will be times when we can burn them. We have to be flexible and it will have to be Burrow (or Brossette) making on-the-field changes. We can't run such a flexible offense from the booth. It puts us 1 play behind always. Forget about 'run the play called'. If you want to win, take risks and trust your people. You have 2 weeks to prepare them on what to look for.
Their lead blockers aren't as stout and good as we normally face. If the LBs can a) be clean, b) engage the lead in the hole we can blunt their running game. The key is for the LBs to be clean enough to get to the lead in the hole. Their OL are very good at combo blocks and reach blocks. The DL is going to have to jam those blockers up right at the LoS to do that. Aranda will try to negate their leads & pulls, sometimes from motion, sometimes not, with scheme. He'll put players "in gap options" just to draw a lead, and then come from the gap next to it. It will be a guessing game for that though, can't rely on it all game.

I think the Bama secondary is clear weakness. There may more more, though. They have not played a good team all season, so any additional weaknesses have not been exposed yet.

Actually, I forgot that their special teams are mediocre. That is always a big factor in this series.

Yeah if we can somehow turn this into a defensive battle (unlikely) that would work out really well for us
