Never understood why people let bandwagon fans bother them so much.
Just laugh at them and move on.

Puhlease every damn coonass I know in Florida is a LSU fan and not a damn one went to LSU. It’s football the most popular sport in the country shut up you sound like a yankee.

If you're a coonass and from the state of Louisiana, you have a connection to LSU.

It’s kinda like LSU fans with no connection to LSU, right?

What do Cajun Fans have to do with this? Most Cajun Fans have connections to the programs. Except for baseball and basketball in the far past did they have an opportunity for bandwagon fans.
Cajun fans always talk about LSU fans as though most have no connection to the program. Similar to the Way the OP is describing Bama fans. A fairly common attempt to insult Tiger fans by some Cajun fans is to say “most people who wear Cajuns gear went to school there, most people who wear LSU gear went to Walmart”.
If a program wins, bandwagoners show up. If you don’t have em, your not winning.

NEWSFLASH: If you have no connection whatsoever to Alabama.... if you have not lived there, went to school there, have a relative playing there, etc, you are a phony fan. A better term is "BANDWAGON FAN".

My boss is a “Bama” fan only bc she likes Nick Saban. When LSU loses, she loves to rub it in. She grew up in New Orleans and went to UNO. She said once Saban no longer coaches there she won’t care about Bama. Can’t even talk to her. That makes me hate Bama more than anything is the way the bandwagon fans carry on.

True dat. Every weekend I would see retards all decked out in LSU gear getting game fixins at the grocery. Doubtful these peeps even have their GED let alone set foot on campus.
It's like that for all the big schools. FL and FSU for sure. UCF still has mostly true fans but FL, UGA, Bama, LSU 80% of the fans dropped out of high school.
Miami, Notre Dame, USC and UNLV basketball are different. They draw fans nationwide. Again most have never been to college.
Don't really have a problem with that though. It's like pro-sports in a way. Like how I'm a Dolphin fan even though I'm a lot closer to Jacksonville and Atlanta.

I grew up in Bama, lived in Bama, went to school at Bama, but now I live in BR and my son goes to LSU (I pay the tuition). So... I support both teams (I guess with everyone's permission I have that right)... Bama first though!!!
College football has grown larger than life. You have people who are fans of Notre Dame or USC or whomever. I know they aren't die hard fans who might beat someone to death for wearing a Bama hat, but to tell you the truth sometimes those fans are worse than the bandwagon fans, right?
Support your team, or whomever you want to support, but why does it bother you if someone jumps on your bandwagon. There are a lot of things to like about the Bama team. you may not see that because you hate Bama so much, but there are some really good points. One of son's high school coaches used to relay motivational things stated by Saban and use his methods to coach the kids and use examples of success from Bama. Is he a bandwagon coach as well? Or, is he just using a successful team as a model... My understanding is that Coach O is using the Bama model of success.
Maybe Coach O isn't a fanatic but he certainly understands what success looks like and will try to implement that success in BR. I wish him all the success he can stand.
So fandome isn't a club that you have to have some affiliation. Just enjoy life brothers and let go of the negativity. LSU is a terrific team and their fans are FANATIC for sure. Do that!
RTR and Geaux Tigahs!

I think it’s hilarious that an Alabama alum has more claim to LSU fandom than just about everyone who liked the OP

Most of the Gump fans I know can only name one, Tue, and many of their fans can't name any! That is bandwagon fans!

I agree with the fact there are a ton of bandwagon jumpers. But, if "living" near the school qualifies as a bandwagoner, Notre Dame would have about 500 fans total. You ever been to South Bend IN?? Living there isn't good enough.

I’m a Boston Red Sox fan......never been to Boston
I’m a Green Bay fan....never been to Wisconsin
I’m a Green Day fan, never been to their concert
Who cares? No one.

Who sets the qualifications for being a fan of anything or anybody? And who has the right to determine who a fan can be, bandwagon or not? My Daddy was a superfan who was born in Arkansas and never went to college. Should he have been denied a ticket or the right to wear purple and gold. Some of you people are WAY too full of yourselves.

It is the result of an insecurity they have that either results from or had led to a lack of connection between these people and where they live. Most of them have had something go wrong in their lives. They are unhappy people and they blame their surroundings for their unhappiness.
Think about it: Have you ever seen a St. Augustine student profess to be a fan of Brother Martin? Or a Ouachita student profess to be a fan of West Monroe? I would say that is quite rare. And part of the reason why is that people who feel a close tie to a community (like their high school) and who feel part of that community have a sense of pride and would never root for a rival.
When you don't go to LSU but live in Louisiana, the tie to LSU is directly dependent on your tie to the community. Most happy people love their town and their neighbors and they naturally pull into it that sense of pride in LSU. Those who are unhappy or have some insecurity issues and blame their surroundings for it have a lesser tie to the community and thus a lesser tie to LSU. Indeed they look to the opposite of their community or the rival of their community. It's a way of saying "frick you" to your community without having the balls to say "frick you." This is why they "choose" to be fans of Alabama presently. When Saban retires and Alabama inevitably down cycles again (I know it's hard to believe but it will happen) all of those Alabama hats will be put in a closet and that obnoxious "A" sticker won't be put on their next car. It will be replaced with something else that can be a passive-aggressive frick you to their community.
My experience has been that I have never met a person who was a purposeful fan of a rival who didn't have some deep-seeded emotional insecurities. I'm not talking about a Bama grad who moves to LA. I'm talking about someone who has no connection to the University of Alabama who lives in LA and professes to be a fan of Alabama. There is legitimately something mentally wrong with that person and it's usually some sort of insecurity.
