Lacy, Maason Smith, Wingo all need to comeback one more year. Anyone else I am missing that can go pro but shouldn't? Maybe Diggs?

Maason could go and be Al Woods. Or he could come back and be Glenn Dorsey

Diggs absolutely should come back….with the way the offense will probably be built next year he could have a career year.

He’s a RB, always the irony of unless you’re top 5 you’re not getting drafted until day 3. Day 3 projected guys should try to increase their draft stock by returning, but you’re an RB and you probably only have about 3-4 good years left in the tank.

Brian Thomas can come back and be an LSU ALL Timer in my book with Nuss. He could hit 2k.

RB is different from all of the other positions. Even if he had a "career year", it's unlikely he would be drafted in the 1st round. That's simply how devalued the position is in the NFL. Most reasonable best case scenario is that he has a really good year and is taken in the second round. But he endured another season of wear and tear to get to that point. Given that NFL teams are reluctant to give even the best RBs a big second contract, is it a better decision to just save that year of wear and tear, get on a roster (either as a mid-late round pick, or UDFA) and try to do the best you can with the "mileage" you have left?

The only way that scenario flips is if a guy like Diggs can earn a more lucrative NIL deal to return to college vs. what he could get as a late-round draft pick. At that point he's better monetizing the "mileage" he has left. Yes, that extra year in college may shorten his NFL career. But he's getting paid more for that extra year in college.

With a good combine, BT could easily go mid 1st round this year (Maybe the Bengals) . He leads the country in touchdown receptions.

i.e., Have a great NFL career BT, thanks for being a great Tiger!

Idk he has good tape and rb have a much shorter expiration date i don’t think it’s worth the risk for him but idk, he could turn into atop 1-2 rounder

Bingo. This may actually be the best deal for him. If he gets paid next year, he gets drafted earlier, more money and locked in to a contract for an extra year. Reason this is good is because most NFL teams would rather draft a RB than sign one for reasons stated throughout this thread.

You all are right about RBs....I didn't think about that but you are right. I still wouldn't be shocked to see him come back....BUT like you all said there is a short shelf life for RBs.

No way this guy comes back. I think he goes in the first round this year, even though there's a lot of good receivers. It seems like receivers have flown off the board in the first round in recent years.

Not unless his work ethic changes. You can improve your quickness a little when you really work hard. The guy is slow. Let's be real here.

Ummmm I'm pretty sure Mason would love to be Al Woods considering the amount of years he made it in the NFL. The dude made it like 15 years of something, that's a long frickin time for any NFL player much less a DL.

I think Thomas has a shot at a 1st or 2nd round pick and could do wonders for a team.

I don’t know if Lacy has the stats or notoriety to get where his ability should put him without an outstanding combine. Another year could do wonders for his draft stock.

This is a win-win either way, right?

Yall overestimate this a lot. Players return and some improve and some hurt their stock every year. They all know its possible. A DT isn't making his decision to stay or go based on how much a QB improved especially when they don't know who will be their position coach.

For all we know Maason Smith has a serious long term injury and may not ever be fully back in which case he should go get whatever money he can now before word gets out that he's done

That’s the point. He’s got all the raw materials to figure it out at some point in the right system just like woods did and I hope he does.

Dorsey though was a first rounder and could have been truly great for a long time in the league without the injuries. And he’ll never have to pay for a meal in BR. Different paths but I think only one maximizes his potential

Be a top 5 pick with a short NFL career or get drafted lower and a have a 14 (and counting) year career?

Odd comparison

Which would you rather be? They both made money.
