I am coming to the LSU vs UGA game

my question - am I better off getting a room in NOLA, or is it worth it to stay in the Red Stick?

my 1st thought is to just stay in NOLA and drive up around noon if it is a night game or mid morning if it is the CBS 2.30 game

REALLY hoping this is a night game

so - is it worth it/better to stay near campus, or is my 1st thought (stay in NOLA) the way to go???

Don't do that. If somehow LSU makes it to this game with only 1 or no losses the game day atmosphere will be second to none. Even if it's a night game you'll want to get to campus early.

As to whether to stay in NOLA or BR, that depends on several factors. Are you flying into and out of NOLA? Late flight friday night/early flight Sunday morning? Are there things you want to do in NOLA? If none of the above then I would just stay in BR.

It really just depends what you want. If you're planning spending time in NOLA on Friday and then coming to the game the following day then I would stay there. However, if you are not planning on partaking in any festivities in NOLA and are just coming in for the game then just get a room in BR.

Matter of preference. Interested more in a trip to NOLA for drinking/partying or taking in the campus scene of college football. Apples and oranges.

You could stay between the two at one of many cheap hotels at Gonzales. But it'll be expensive to Uber/Lyft if you drink too much to drive.

driving

live in Bham

sounds like I'd be better off staying in BR

the idea of driving on Saturday night does not appeal to me the more I think about it...

Do not do this. Especially for a matchup like UGA/LSU

My first question is, do you know anyone in the BR/LSU area? and are you going with a group?

is that place worth a shite?

or should I step up and pay more for a "corporate type" place by the all? (hampton, drury, etc)

It will most likely be a 230 CBS telecast
I would probably try and stay in BR Fri night and then when you've had enough in the 3rd quarter, you can drive to NOLA and drown your sorrows.

How much is the Belle wanting? It would be ok for your purpose.
The Hampton Inn, Hilton Capital Center, or Marriott Courtyard (opening in Aug); or Courtyard-Acadian Thruway, really close to campus.
If want to stay at a casino type place-L'auberge.

Edit:damn, just doing a quick search, all $400+ or sold out.For 2 guys, won't be in the room much.

Unless, you want to spend $500 a night. Get in the Belle, it's downtown, close to bars/restaurants and close to campus; it's fine

$139 a night; also letting me opt to pay when I get there with cancellation option up until 10/10/18

looks like paid parking - probably $20 a day?

good reviews on google -

Important questions to answer.

When are you driving in?

Ever been to NOLA?

If no, have any desire to go?

How much do you plan on drinking/tailgaiting Saturday?

You are going to get there early to soak it all in, especially if LSU is doing good and this game has meaning. By early I mean 7-8 for a 2:30 game, 9-10 for a night game at the latest.

yeah seriously get in there. That's a good rate, it's a fine place.

I had no idea in early May, everything would be sold out or that high.

just booked it

got Friday & Saturday night for $325.26, with taxes included

according to priceline; there are a dozen people looking at that deal now

probably sells out soon...
