What do you think, 10,000-20,000 people? Meanwhile 90,000 are coming from places that are not New Orleans. Why should they have to chip in for a rail that doesn't affect them, and that they don't want.

This guy actually believes a rail line can be built from BR to NOLA for what is going to be at most $5,000,000?
100,000 per game at LSU
25,000 at Southern and that’s being generous. (2022 average 19,844)
8 home games per season max. Most likely 7 as both play neutral site games often.

125,000 X $1 X 8 X 5 = $5,000,000
The average cost to build a rail line is about $1,000,000 per mile. You couldn’t even build a line from the Capitol building to OLotL
The fact that you believe this is the meaning of the bill proves what an assinine mindset you have. This is to help start it not the full amount...one can only hope that you dont vote and are not an actual alum otherwise god help us!

"A survey of North American light rail projects shows that costs of most LRT systems range from $15 million to over $100 million per mile."
"New cost figures issued in an update report from the California High-Speed Rail Authority show that the plan to build the 171-mile initial segment has shot up to a high of $35 billion" (which is $205 million per mile)

Hasn’t happen since Huey Long had trains packed with LSU fans going to Baton Rouge on Saturday’s in the fall. Don’t see it happening for regular rail service. It would be too expensive for the average Joe and not enough daily riders. This isn’t New York.

Nola thugs will be taking the train up here then driving back in our carjacked cars.

by driving 30 min to a train station, waiting on a late train, dealing with the eventual rif raff on said train, then catching a uber another 30min to said office. Then repeating the steps at the end of the day. Sounds lovely
30 minutes to a rail station wouldnt't make sense.
If a train would take you to the edge of campus on game days, I'd drive 15 min and park in a lot to take the train. Plus, at the end of the night, gives you extra time to rest on train ride back before driving home.
But please can it be a monorail?

can think of 1,000 things this state needs more than a BR to NOLA rail.
That’s pretty sad.

Holy hell, Mack Cormier!?!?
Me and that dude used to kick it back and college, hadn’t heard that name in a while.
Not related to anything on topic just felt like I should mention that.

Can you imagine how terrible that ride would be?

through the 2027 season
So about $1,500,000.
That won't pay for the study needed to consider a rail line of that length.
If you really wanted something like that, you would need to add a $0.05 per gallon fuel tax to East Baton Rouge Parish, Orleans Parish, and Jefferson Parish.

Why would I want people from New Orleans to be able to get to Baton Rouge easier? And who the hell wants to go to NOLA so bad anymore that they need a train?

Im not opposed to the general premise of an extra dollar on sports tickets.
But proposed by Belle Chase to be applied to BR sports teams only? How about go frick yourself. I would say tax Belle Chase, but theres nothing left of any value

Only if there's a one time special spur that's for the inaugural trip. Load all the politicians and BR & NO mayors and then onto the spur that dead ends in the Atchafalaya Swamp. Remove the spur them move on.
