NIL isn’t a bad thing. Fighting it will end in frustration and irrelevance. The stupid Aggies aren’t unhappy right now. Because, they’ve accepted and adapted. And, for a short period of time, they deserve the rewards for taking the initial risk.

LSU will get there. It’s just a new norm. And, not a bad one. I’m actually okay letting the Aggies be the guinea pigs.

Gone are the days of the bagmen, $100 handshakes, fat arse barbers, arc. The old system rewarded those programs willing to go to the edge of the NCAA rule book and live to talk about it.

Now, it’s out in the open…kind of like legalization of marijuana.

LSU will just have to rethink capital allocation. We aren’t as wealthy as Texas, USC, etc. But, we do have boosters will to invest in the program. Those dudes just need to start investing in our collective rather than in facilities, etc.

Facilities, etc were a means by which to recruit. Now, NIL is the means to recruit. Once recruits are secure, success on the field is secured, and the football program is making a ton of cash, THEN spend that cash on facilities. Just need a 180 in thought process.

We’ll get there. And, we can do out in the open and not worry about Saban handing out Dodge Chargers or the fat arse Amite barber anymore.

That movie sucked arse. It gave more credit for the A’s success to shitty arse Scott Hatteberg than the fact they had prime Mark Mulder, Barry Zito, and Tim Hudson at the same time.

Well he’s dying in Oakland right now, so I don’t think this analogy works

Yes it is. College athletes had plenty of advantages and enough perks. No one was forced into playing college athletics. You didn’t have to if you felt it wasn’t worth the effort.

College football and basketball are dead. It’s over.

"Adapt or die" is the correct approach, honestly.

Remember when free agency was going to kill the NFL? Teams figured that out and it's pivotal now.

There do need to be better guardrails in place, though, and a level playing field for all. We'll get there.

Same as Aggie.

Look at what the Red Sox did though with his approach.

Adapt or die.

Agree.

People against NIL wishing for the good ol’ days probably really would have thrown a fit with the advent of the forward pass back in the day.

Princeton, Penn, etc probably still pissed.

NIL is not investing in your program. It is more like pay light bill. Most of these players on NIL will not make much of a mark on the program and will cycle in and out of various programs. Paying a kid $50k that exits the team in one year is not an investment and it wont take long for the money men to feel the swindle.

Think of it this way... NIL is renting instead of buying.

Apparently they haven't adapted good enough. The NCAA knows it's backed itself into a corner and will fight for it's own existence. I believe 8 & 4 will pay some sort of penance, or the NCAA will slip into the 4th dimension.

Couldn't agree more with the OP. NIL isn't going anywhere soon. Get boosters to put up the money to get the good recruits and Brian Kelly will have those top notch players competing for championships. If high school kids want money instead of the best facilities, get them to campus with an NIL deal.

We can still have good facilities without the lavish spending on making it the best in the Nation. If you get the good players and start winning and competing for championships, more good players will want to come here.
