I would prefer to see Echols be given more of a look. Have we really seen enough of him to know for sure?

His pass protection grades were good. His run protection grades were not great along with everyone on the team. We know our running game is the problem.

Go watch again. Most of the game he couldn’t step up. Why? Because Chester was getting abused

Kelly kind of tipped his hand here. He said just before the season that Mubenga moves the best of the LG group and Echols is the strongest. With the gap and counter plays (which we saw less of last weekend), the Guards need to be able to pull and move around. That’s likely why Mubenga has gotten the majority of the snaps there so far.
Echols was listed as a backup Center last year, but he’s played nothing but Guard here so far. He’s looked good in limited time here and will get a shot at some point.

Honestly he needs to get on a cycle in the offseason and be an OT
He needs to buy a motorcycle and motor on over to Statesboro (Georgia Southern) or Atlanta (Georgia State) and be an OT at one of those schools!
There's a reason that Kirby Smart and Stacy Searels didn't offer him a football scholarship to the University of Georgia!

When did “run protection’ become a term in football? Please, go back to the days of pass pro and run blocking.

Perfect example of him drifting back into the ends coming up the field. This throw is from 10+ yards behind the LOS.
And here is my absolute favorite
I’m not sure if it needs an explanation but this is our 5th Yr senior spinning backwards in the pocket for no reason whatsoever.

Your stupidity is always comical

This is acceptable to you
Idk what your hard on for defending Nuss from any criticism is, but this is how low you have to stoop to do it.

You don’t even know what you’re looking at. Thats what I’m laughing at. Don’t get so bent out of shape you’ve brought another person joy through humor.

Explain it then - tell me and others what Nuss is doing well on this play?

LT is beat but your first example is the funny one because everybody’s beat on that one.

And Nuss refused to step up and instead rolled into the pressure making it much worse.
And the result…
That’s a poor job by the LT that Nuss compounds with a boneheaded decision to bail instead of moving up.
The first one I posted is a little tougher but there is room to step up instead of continue to drift back. He did make solid throw on that play but I’m highlighting the pocket issues. I can post other screenshots of him bailing on clean pockets but I don’t think you’ll care. He didn’t have a good game. Neither did the OL.

Because usually he’s getting pressure up the middle. Go watch the highlights, half the pass attempts he’s getting instant pressure up the middle and made a bunch chunk play throws on some of them. The INT was bad, short armed it, LT got pushed a little and he didn’t want to step into the middle. You get constant pressure all year up the middle then as soon as your Center goes out it starts happening again. What do you expect?

No, it’s not Nintendo there’s no room to step into on that first image

It’s because he had already drifted back though. Had he held firm and stepped up originally he can still make clean throw. Instead he had to throw off of his back foot but did a nice job getting enough juice on it.
As for your previous post, the tackles were by far the biggest problems in the passing game. It’s not accurate to say his pressure was mostly coming from the middle. I know Chester gets the blame but he wasn’t the weak link Saturday. The tackles along with Nuss apparently seeing ghosts up the middle were the culprits.

His first 7 drop backs, not counting the 3 step quick game or screens, he gets 1st pressure from the RT, escapes and completes it on the sideline. Next one is right up the middle, completed to Brown for 16. Next center gets pushed back, pocket looks like a W, he moves left completes an 8 yard pass. Next one pressure right up the middle gets the PI. So first 7 throws he gets 4 instant pressures, 1 outside, 3 inside, 2 clean pockets that go for a 17 yard gain and the touchdown. Thats pretty much how it went all night

Am i the only one that notices that this is a WR screen play?
Im not 100% confident, but i feel pretty damn good saying that Chester is supposed to let this defender bull rush him a little. Imagine how fricked up this play would be if he just brick walls the guy at the LOS? You want that guy rushing himself out of the play.
And in the small chance this isn't designed, he has no help on either side of jim, this is a true 1v1 pass rush where the guy can take him either direction. The center would almost never rep that because hes never asked that.
Dumb clip is dumb.

Worst part of this pic is that we had to keep six in to block four La Tech Defenders. Had to do it several times. You got four guys running routes when the defense is dropping seven, your odds aren't very good.

Chester plays too high, is slow off the snap and then gets pushed around. There was pressure off of RT Davis' position but there was pressure up the middle also, in the run and pass game and that's because of Chester. OL coach Davis, IMO, isn't getting the job done developing and correcting flaws.
