It’s not ideal by any means but likely won’t change who comes to camp.
Better hope it doesn't change the minds of the "Calvary" coming in to the 2022 OL class. (Campbell, Bordelon and Taylor)

Cregg was traditionally a weak recruiter and developer. (Couldn't even get a commitment from Tritan Leigh, whom everybody thought was coming to LSU)

It's time now for Mawae and/or Sale as Co-OL coaches. (T-TE's/C-G's)

I think this is concerning for the program because you don't fire unless you have a major recruiting violation. It's good that we caught it but they could be waiting to slam the hammer on LSU since we're already in a probation period. We have self inflicted sanctions that the NCAA hasn't even gave their own ruling. This could walk us down the line of a potential death penalty depending on the violations. You know the NCAA wants someone to be their bitch?

I think we're going to get some bowl bans at the very least so don't expect anything on this season. Going to suck. frick you Cregg you POS. I never liked you and this just proves it.

That will never happen again. Baylor’s basketball team literally had one guy MURDER another player among several other things a few years ago and the death penalty was never even on the table. They may hit us hard, but no program will ever get that again.

The NCAA hasn’t given out a death penalty in a major sport since SMU in the 1980s. If they weren’t going to give it to Miami football or Louisville basketball, they’re not giving it here.

There should be a moratorium on this message board about mentioning the death penalty as a potential punishment for LSU football.

The NCAA is not a law enforcement organization. As callous as it sounds, the NCAA has no jurisdiction nor business punishing Baylor for this unless it broke NCAA rules, as reprehensible that statement is and yes I hate myself for typing it.

The NCAA cares about their own rules, which apparently Cregg broke

It had to be done. Timing isn't great but LSU isn't in a position when shite hits the fan to wait around to do something about it.

The violations from what I was told this morning are minor and LSU self reported.

This wasn't a planned firing, so probably not

Lau knew about the violation for weeks. They have their top 2-3 candidates lined up. They were just waiting for Clemson to formally turn them in to fire Cregg with cause.

So you went to the OL Camp at LSU and there was no one there to coach you?”

To be fair. They could probably say that when Cregg WAS here as well.

And his recruiting hasn't exactly been dynamite. LSU will lose most, if not all of their starting OL after this year and it looks like they will have to rely on guys who (for the most part) in 3-4 years haven't been good enough to see snaps on a weak OL

Can someone PLEASE tell us what happened rather than the "we broke some rules"?

Tristan Leigh had signed his LOI with Clemson during the early signing period. No one outside of his family and Clemson were aware. LSU and prob 1-2 other schools were still actively recruiting him since he said he would announce at the All American game. So you have a school unknowingly recruiting someone who signed their LOI weeks prior. That’s a big no no. There are also lesser actions. You can also take into account that Cregg wasn’t able to consistently land big recruits that some believe were LSU locks at during points during the process. Look for LSU to lose another scholarship for 1-2 years and some recruiting time whether it be on campus or in home.

May be a dumb question, but if what you are saying is true, can someone please help me understand how LSU and these other schools that were still contacting Leigh should get dinged for it if they didn’t know, and had no way of knowing, that Leigh had signed his letter of intent? Seems like that’s a problem with the system if a kid can secretly sign a letter of intent and put schools at risk for their failure to know this.

I’m not sure how this still happens or a school is supposed to be aware unless another school reports it. This same issue occurred a few years ago when Matt Womack signed his financial aid package with LSU and then signed with Bama leaving LSU with their dick in their hand and it was a recruiting violation. I don’t know how they always seem to be cucked.
