I admired and looked up to Big E. He was and is a legend and represented the true raw passion and intensity of a Tiger that is the gold standard today.

He was special in so many ways, but understand this, no Tiger, and I mean no Tiger, was more intimidating on a football field.

Thanks CharlesLSU.Couldn't watch the video but Eric was a great Tiger.

Some may not know this but he started some at DL as a true Fr in '84. If I remember right we lost Barbay to injury vs UF first game of the season and Henry Thomas vs ND.

Used to do a lot of construction work for his brother Andy and the family company, Levert Properties. Great people and what a Tiger in Eric. Miss that guy.

Eric's death was truly tragic. He was a great guy and a great Tiger.

RIP Eric.

Definitely. Super athlete and an amazing person from what I understand. I got the privilege of meeting him as a kid through my big brother's group of friends. I remember him as being huge and muscular but very kind which wasn't what I expected from the way he played ball. A great Tiger indeed.

And yet, no shout out from Barry Sanders during his HOF speech, when other linemen got mentioned.

I have E's autograph, along with several others, on a 1984 SECC football.

Saw two games sitting behind bench in stands with my son. Eric had that look in his eye...you are the enemy and I WILL beat you.

Peace be with his family throughout their lives.

Nor at Fred's. After Spring finals mid-80's, heading into Fred's, EA was sitting there talking to the bouncer at the front door. For no reason, other than he was drunk, he stood up and put his hands around my throat, picked me up, and dangled me for a few seconds. One of the closest times I've been to death.

Had the biggest neck I've seen in my life. Him and Nacho were two of the strongest linemen in the Sec at the time....

So i knew this guy when we shared a room at A football camp at USL.
I was 5"10 150 QB. He was an absolute monster. Kind hearted, met with young kids and happy as a lark.
Big E, looked like the incredible hulk, guy was so big.
Man, what a great memory getting to know him.
Such a sad ending to his life.

Im trying to picture this in my mind, and i keep seeing the 80s teen movie Cant Buy Me Love, with EA as the letter jacket-wearing meathead, and you as the Patrick Dempsey character ... i hope that when he set you down, everyone watching spontaneously broke out into a choreographed slow clap like after the cafeteria monologue scene at the end of that movie... Long live the 80s.

He would randomly stare guys down around campus . Just a really intimidating guy- I remember thinking that he had more muscles in his face than I had in my arms. I met him through another Player (BM) and he was a nice guy. Very intense though- not warm and fuzzy .

It was exactly like that in which I was the Patrick Dempsey character - except it was right outside the door where the bouncer was sitting on a stool checking ID's and EA was there talking to him. Only people coming in or in the parking lot would have seen.
