It's called a hypothetical conversation, wing nut.

I don't think anyone actually believes this is what is going on.

I hope Coach Miles wins the natty and then goes to the president and tell him to fire Alleva and he does it. Miles is a great coach and he just made a kick arse hire for DC.

Lol LSU is in the position to outbid both Texas(herm's dream job by the way) and TAMU, who quite possibly will be looking for head coaches next year. Theory isn't so good

That move would allow him to remain at LSU while his kids finished school and would allow him to retire on his own terms.

So...

LSU replaces a (by most accounts) top-rate AD, with a former coach who has no experience running an athletic department, so that he can stay in BR while his kids finish school and then retire on his own terms?

Good Lord!

When will some of y'all realize that it's 2015, and not the 70's or 80's anymore? LSU brings in about $110MM annually, you don't give the job of managing that to someone so that they can watch their kids graduate from school and say goodbye when they're ready.

It's a business, and it should be treated as such.

This would give me so many boners.

I think it was more along the lines of the guy wanting to coach in a better conference, for a better program, with better athletes, for a ton more money.

This is pure, speculative fun, so take it for what it is worth.

Like most negotiations, you want both parties to feel like they win. Allowing Miles to keep his family in BR and not have to be the head coach is something you do to show your appreciation for someone who has given a lot to the LSU community. It is not the only reason, it is simply one of many that make something like this plausible.

The idea that Miles would not be able to run the business side of the AD (or not retain or hire people to continue to run it) is ridiculous to me. Alleva does not have some insider, secret knowledge on the financials. In fact, the athletic program is profitable in spite of him as much as it is because of him.

Great, so give him another title within the AD...just not "AD".

Never said he couldn't, I just don't think he wants to.

No, but he does have experience. And, by your logic, I assume that Alleva could also be HC of the football team?

How's that?

Delusional or DeLSUional when it comes to the Nut-hugging Les pumpers

dih-loo-zhuh-nl]

adjective
1. having false or unrealistic beliefs or opinions: Miles will win a Championship in 2016
2. Psychiatry. maintaining fixed false beliefs even when confronted with facts, usually as a result of mental illness: All Miles needs to do is hire a good OC and everything will be fine.

A theory with a stretch. It amazes me how some people want for Les Miles to fail with a fantastic hire moving forward, and that is exactly what a lot of the people are hoping for.
This makes me sick to read how miserable the makeup of the negatiger people on this site are here, and probably with their personal and professional life as well.
As for myself, Geaux Tigers, and all the best to our coaches and players in their quest to a SEC championship run in 2016.

No, just no...

Actually i think he would be a great fit for AD. The things you need out of an AD are someone that can entertain and raise money. Check. And someone that is brash enough to tell ncaa/sec/network TV to go f themselves while still having everyone like you. Check. After that it is being able to identify talent. Check.

That is why LSU made such great strides under skip.

Aranda is on his way to becoming a HC in his own right, not so sure he's going to sit behind Herman.

Correct, it's more likely that Herman's success elevated the value of those with whom he is associated. The HC builds his own staff and it would be disrespectful at this point to begin building the staff for the incumbent. Having this guy on staff does give us a brighter future than CoachO would have offered.

I don't think there is an understanding les is going to step down next season.

But I do think Arabda could be used to recruit Tom Herman if things go south next year with Les.

Could it be that Miles asked for (or was given) one more year to right the program with the understanding that he would step down after the 2016 season?
That's so dumb. Les Miles nor anyone else is not stepping down unless they get paid. That's the bottom line. The real world is nothing like the world in the minds of fans.

Nice theory, but you are talking about an administration and board of supervisors whom I doubt have the brains or the foresight to step out of the way if a train is heading straight for them. I doubt seriously they could conceive of a scheme this complex, let alone pull it off.

this "theory" of yours smacks of tin foil hats and sightings of little green men in a flying saucer.

or a spy novel! Aranda is a mole for Tom Herman and is now on the inside of the LSU operation. he can not only gather valuable info but can work as a one man sleeper cell and destroy the team from within all the time reporting to herman's agent who is offering up hermans services to swoop in and save LSU from utter destruction.

or how about the reality that Aranda is a young DC looking to double his pay and enter the big boy's arena where he has an opportunity to shine and get a multi-million dollar gig later on.
