So I was watching a Jeremy Pruit coaching clinic. He said that in a 3 by 1 set, when the TE is on the strong side, if he’s lined up on the LOS or off the ball on the inside, very rarely will they ever go vertical. Considering how much of a freak Gilbert is, and how much we love sending WRs vertical, we could really screw up a lot of zone/ pattern match coverages by utilizing him in deep routes in that setup

Defense will play quarters.

Arik will be a matchup problem in most sets for defenses.

Good take. All I know is he should play opposing side to Chase since the safety will double team chase. More likely for Gilbert to get 1vs1

He will be utilized by using the forward pass.

He will be more effective with the mismatch he creates not only for himself but with others when he is split out wide you have to commit a smaller corner or nickel to cover him.

You mean like Moss did against OU for about 70 and a TD...

Burrow also missed Moss like that in the Clemson game... overthrew him in the 3rd I believe.

Supafreak like Sullivan

WR in a TE body

There’s a good article on how Linehan will use Gilbert as WR

I pity opposing DCs

Either Coach O or Coach E has mentioned using him in the slot as well. Imagine the coverage mismatches there.

It is just so refreshing to actually have an OC that desires to use the TE position. For decades I've watched awesome TE talent that was never utilized. At the same time I watched teams beat us utilizing that position. God bless CSE
