We'd be better off not having STs at all under Kelly

The teams that beat Clemson last year (Georgia, Louisville, South Carolina, and Texas) ran the ball down Clemson's throat. All rushed for over 185 yards and over 6 ypc. Even Louisville ran for 210 yards (7.8 ypc) againt Clemson. Clemson was 85th against the run nationally.

Conversely, Clemson was 27th nationally against the pass, which makes sense given that Clemson has NFL pash rushers and a very good secondary. Tyler Shough struggled throwing the ball against Clemson (158 yds), as did Lenoris Sellers (164 yds).

LSU can win the game if it can run the ball on Clemson like Louisville did. We shall see.

I didn’t say I was confident. Actually far from it. I’m saying if we are to win it will be b/c of a very improved defense and a talented and improved special teams return game.

Yea. Do you remember all the missed FGs, XPs, and STs single handedly costing us the UF game last year due to losing the punt yardage battle and FG battles?
Andersons KR doesn't outweigh all that

D is elite.
Clemp has no RB, no secondary and OL is a?

Nuss needs to attact that secondary with Green and the super speedy WRs

This offense will be at minimum as good as last year that finished top 30. Off the top of my head I think we finished #25 in total offense. The weapons are much better. The QB has another year. We couldn't run the ball last year with zero deep threat. Added deep threats plus a more experienced QB will help the run game. I'm not saying it will be good but it will be better than last year.

It’s a step in the right direction. You’re right about our spec teams in general (especially our punting and punt coverage) but b/c of our speed kick off returns and punt returns I feel will be our saving grace.

Can I assume that is a facetious comment?

It’ll be a low scoring game regardless. They’ve got an insanely good DL that matches up pretty well with ours.

Yeah, early in the season, since both teams have talent, I think the defenses will dominate. And for those who predict a high score for LSU in particular, LSU will only score a lot of points (say over 24) if one or more of three things happen 1) LSU actually has a running game 2) LSU does an OU like what happened against Alabama and LSU gets a pick 6 or two 3) Brown goes nuts and proves why he is a 1st team All American return guy. No matter who wins the game I think the score will be something like 24-20....well under the 57 O/U.

Not to mention the KO return for a TD against Baylor by Thomas I believe it was. Anyone who whined about LSU special teams didn't watch LSU games. The ONLY weak spot was the LSU punting. KO returns fine...KOs to opponents fine...FGs acceptable, etc.

Stopped here. That stuff is meaningless.

We’ll know how good we are by the end of the first quarter at Clemson.

However you think the game might go, will not happen. I personally think that we will all be pissed off by halftime.
