Don't get me wrong, a part of me is embarassed to say it, but I would take Saban back in a heartbeat.

I see where some fans might not want that, though.

All that said, I do agree with a poster above... Saban aint comin back to LSU. Nonetheless, I still think you gotta make the call to him.

Next on the list of unlikely coaches would be Gruden. He's an NFL guy. And once coaches have succeeded in the NFL, they tend to think a little better of themselves than college coaches. I think Gruden is one of those and would never come "down" to the college level.
I always teased at the idea of Gruden. Mainly because his dream coaching job was at Notre Dame. That is a stretch but it is still in college. I laugh to think that he will ever come down to college. But what I like about Gruden is that he knows the game. Sure you can argue and say that he gained those Tampa players. You could also say that he has never coached college. Which is very true. But draft picks get paid money to play and they have never played a down in the NFL. You pay for experience. With that being said I know Gruden will never be the head coach here. Nor do I really want him to be. I would like to have Mike Leach. I know that he runs the Air Raid. But we can tweak it and mix in runs 50-50. We couldn't just become a passing team and waste our RB talent. Leach knows how to run a really good passing attack and he could fix our problem at QB. The major downside is the things he did at TTU with putting that kid into a closet.

I think Ole Miss was in the wrong for sending him out.

Look at how they have turned out afterwards.

I am still kinda unsure about the guy, but I don't think OM should be given much credibility in sending out someone who gave them legit success.

Keep Chavis right where is and I think it would be the making of a good combo

and while we are at it let's give ole fat Phil a call and rename our school little Tenn. Not to rip on you, but no thanks.

We need a proven mid-major coach or an excellent OC or DC.

Another guy that would be a realistic candidate is Houston's coach.

If I were in charge, and this is assuming we are looking for a new coach in the near future, I'd call Saban and offer him $6 million per year, lifetime contract, and guaranteed job as AD when he decides to call coaching quits.

We don't need anymore contractual quagmires.

LSU coaches should be offered incentives packages from now on, not guaranteed money. That's why we're in the trouble we're in now.

Gary Pinkel or Jim Harbaugh would make me happy...but Miles is here a long time I imagine.

And I am good with that, as long as GC hits the bricks...shite you could fire him today as far as I am concerned.

Pinkel is actually ALOT better paid than I thought and under another 4 years of contract.

But he went to Kent State, breeding ground of best football coaches in America.

I would support bringing in Briles. Great offensive mind. Can recruit well in Texas.

His overall record in college is sub-500. No thanks to anything out of the Big 12...exception would be Pellini.

This is the type of comment that reminds me that people that post on this board don't know shite about college football as a whole.

It's fricking BAYLOR. Add to the fact that he was successful at Houston. Look at the recruiting classes he's brought in since he's been at BAYLOR. Do you people even understand what type of job Baylor is?

I would be absolutely ecstatic if they got Briles. But again, I'm stick with Brady Hoke. He's proven he's a program changer.

I really like Miles, but I've also grown tired of the division in our fan base regarding Miles.

This has happened with me too.

But I am also tired of watching us underperform. Things might turn around with a new OC. But I would not be too upset if Miles were to go.

I think you can forget Harbaugh. He is a head coach at a private school that plays football at the highest level, with an excellent academic reputation and is always in the hunt for the "school with the most titles" trophy. Yes most of those titles are in minor sports but that means the school has the bucks to pursue them. He can recruit nationally for the most prized recruits - high gpa, high test scores and athletically gifted.

Briles is the one that may be the best overall and most likely. But Baylor being a private school can do a lot for a coach in order to keep him.
