come on, buddy. Frank Wilson is heavily considered for one of the top 3 college jobs in the nation? Perhaps the top. The guy who was fired from the University of Texas........at San Antonio? Nothing like a coaching search to showcase those in the fan base who know absolutely nothing about how college football works. He has superior talent on the roster. If he wins out, its not because he developed the team into a championship level squad. It would be because the roster was allowed to play to its full potential

Same way O was fresh off tanking the Ole Miss program….

Y'all keep saying this but in 2016 Orgeron was 9-10 years removed from OM. He was a successful interim at USC and LSU so he had a little bit more going for him than Frank. I'm not 100% against Frank getting a chance but comparing him to Orgeron is not accurate.

He was right there on the sideline before the game and left before it started.

Big Whit has a great take on building a search committee. Should be two layers, the former players reporting to a small group of decision makers. Put people like Hester, Burrow, Whitworth, Matthew, Flynn, Davey, etc to present and find candidates for you and give them candidate to evaluate from the media. Have the rank the top 5, then let the decision makers decide from that smaller pool.

we're going to act like Ed O wasn't God awful at Ole Miss? If Frank wins out, he should be heavily considered.

We have the dumbest fans.

Not challenging you, but curious as to what you think those things are.

There's a ton of detail and nuance that comes along with being a HC in college football. I would want to know how they plan on handling NIL, recruiting, hiring coordinators, support staff, etc. And not just "I would hire the best coordinators and get the best players". I would want details. How they go about those things at their current schools and what, if anything, they would do it differently at LSU. I would also just want to see how they interact in person.

It's the same as any other high level leadership position. If I was picking the next CEO for a major company, I would never hire them without going through a thorough interview process, and I damn sure would just hire whoever my customers told me to hire.

You don't think putting media personalities in charge of a coaching search might present a conflict of interest down the road?

Burrow

The guy was great at LSU but do we really think he loves LSU deep down to the same level as a guy like Hester and the rest?

Why is it a bad idea? Seriously, just curious why you feel that way.

Because former players are less capable of making a quality hire. The only thing worse than former players is current players.

If former players want to help the program, they need to do it in the ways they are qualified to help. Using their game and notoriety to help raise money, bring attention to the program, recruit, etc.
